Tire Recommendations to replace Stock
Hi all,
I have a 2009 G37S convertible and I am going to need new tires in a few months (current mileage is at 23k)..
I commute about 70 miles a day/approx. 400/week and so I want a set of tires that will do well regarding gas mileage but I also do not want to sacrifice much performance.
Any recommendations would be much appreciated!
Thanks

I just replaced the stock tires (Dunlop, 25k miles) on my 2010 G37 Vert with the Michelin Pilot Super Sport (summer performance). I commute 50 miles round trip during the week, mostly highway. I have noticed no difference in gas mileage (20.4 mpg). Looking at your profile, it seems that you are from NY, so the summer tires won't work. The shop i used in South FL also recommended the Michelin A/S Pilot Sport tires. I have also heard good things about the Hankooks. I went with the Michelin's only because a local shop by me had a price that I could not beat.
The Michelin's were a huge improvement over the stock Dunlops. They feel like they have a really strong grip on the road, and cornering has improved.

^ good call!
If you are driving your car year round in Staten Island, I would recommend the Michelin A/S PS2 - I had them on my Volvo S60R and they were awesome. My Vert is not my DD so when my tires need to be repalced, I am going for a high-performance summer tire like the Super Sport - I too have heard really good things about them!

wow, thanks for the feedback guys- much appreciated. yes, I live in NY, but I rarely drive around here, My commute is to Jersey and the roads aren't so bad so summer/performance tires are definitely an option- (I'll never move my car when it snows)..so I'm probably going to go with the Michelin's since I have only heard good things about them!
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

Just got the Hankooks, Put them to the test, for less then 850.00 CA Tax install included can't beat it. Same price for OE Bridgestones $1650.00.
Ride, Noise, Braking & handling all at or better then Bridgestones.
Haven't been on wet stuff yet but should do fine.

I have 1500 miles on my Conti DWS (all seasons) and they have been fantastic. Quiet and great stick.
On a SUV I had the sidewalls felt a little soft on the Contis, with the lower profile on the G37 Vert they are excellent.

I just replaced the stock Potenza's with Pilot Super Sports. Much better ride and quieter. Taking the car from SC to Conn next week... we'll see.

^^Thanks for that info. The sedan uses similar, but 18" and 5% larger (225/50/18, 245/45/18). I'm still torn about going with the PSS's. I shot myself in the foot some years back with goodyear eagle f1 gs d3 tires (on a camaro) that got excellent reviews, but turned out to be crap in stock sizes (very soft sidewalls, resulting in poor steering response).

Not a single issue. Pilot Super Sports did great and are much quieter than the Potenzas. A better ride all the way around.
