Moving up to 19's....maybe
 

Need help with my wheel fitment. I'm getting new tires and figure might as well get new wheels. 2011 G37 Journey with Sport Package. Two basic questions...I know stock are 18X7.5 front 18X8.5 rear, but if I go 18X8 in front and 18X9 in back with the same OEM tire size, will the look be affected much? Next, say I go 19's, what stagger can/should I use with what tire size, and finally, do you need spacers just moving up to 19's? Thanks in advance guys.

You don't need spacers as long as rims are in factory spec. are going to use OEM 19s? If not then as long as you are not going 19x10 or so you'll be fine with no spacers. Take my advice with a grain of salt as I don't know much about tires but that's what got for my 10 sedan.

Be sure to think toward the future regarding any mods you may be contemplating. If you plan on lowering your car as most folks around here do when they go w/ larger wheels and lower profile tires, offset plays a more important role. When my time comes, i'll likely get another pair of OE rears to put on the front. Or, if I decide to go 19", it'll be 19x8.5 so I can run a square set up and be able to rotate tires. I think a 245 width all around is plenty good for daily driving and occasional twisty roads. Tire are not insanely expensive in this size either.

Sure they ride a bit firmer but the stiffer sidewalls sure hug those corners, fill the Gs fenderwells just right, and the 20" tires are usually cheaper than 19s :)

Yeah...had a G35 back in '05...got rid of it. Now have an '11 and when I tried to register, I was told that I already had an account. Go figure. Anyway, thanks for all the advice...Still not sure which wheel size to go with.

I would think going with 245's all around would be nice on the G. I currently have the stock 19's with the staggered set up. I would love to go 245's all around though. The one thing I might mention is I have 245's on 19's on the front of my Z and in parking lots making tight turns at slow speeds you do notice the width. They are stock on the Z in the front.

Other than that do some research as there is a lot of information on this site as well as others on this subject. Read up that way you can make an informed decision.

I have 245s all around on my RWD and it's a good setup. If you want the staggered stance but still have the ability to rotate your tires you can always get the same 4 wheels and just use spacers on the back to get that look.

I'm running TSW Nurburgrings 19x8.5's up front and 19x9.5's on the rear. +45 offset on the front and +46 on the rear. 245/40/19 front and 275/35/19 rear Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus. Wheels sit flush to the fenders and it's got a very aggressive stance.

Plus the new Michelin's have ENORMOUS grip. WAY better than the stock Bridgestones.

Also have the Hotchkis sways. It completely changes the handling of the car for the better!

I'll be running Volk RE30 staggered: 19x9 +38 and 19x10 +35 with the Michelin Super Sports 245/40/19 and 275/35/19.
