bahhhhhh scuffed rim

so wife texts me this morning with "my day started out bad"..

i ask what happened and she explained that she scratched a rim...

now for her to actually text me that... it must be pretty bad. these are still the stockies, so i'm not too concerned about it (considering we purchased that RIM insurance the dealers usually sell). i've already had to take the wheels in once before for scuffs... and they fixed it free of charge.

pics to come.... but hopefully nothing too bad as i haven't budgeted for new rims yet... this may be the convincing factor to do so though...

does any brand make "Wife Proof" rims? :)

that sucks. lol @ the last comment, i dont think so.

HA! My wife is petrified to drive my G beacause I am fanatical about the rims...

That being said, there are no wife proof rims.

If the dealer wont or cant fix it for free, I have used Al's Hubcaps in Mineola, NY to powdercoat my rims and he does excellent work & will knock out curb rash for $100 or less...
Good luck man!

I paid for Tire&Rim insurance. So far, one puncture has been repaired for free and I don't fret about curb rash(though I don't have any yet).

If your dealer offers rim repair yes but likely they sub it out to a mobile wheel repair company.

For the best rim repair and powder coating in the tri-state area go see Al At Al's Hubcaps in Mineola. It is worth the trip!

hahaha wife proof... sucks to see it happen... but yea.. doesn't look like the damage is too too bad... i would wait and hold off to fix it just in case she decides to do it again... haha :5091:

Scuffed my drivers front. Totally sucks.

I called Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists and they never returned my call. I emailed as well nothing.

Anyone have a Northern NJ wheel guy that comes out to your business and repairs on site?

stormgate 08-22-2011 08:43 AM

i can find out who my dealer uses. i suspect its one of those mobile repair shops... they've fixed scuffs for me before and did a great job.

Scuffed my rear driver side wheel avoiding moron shooting down middle of side street while I was making a right into the street. I love NJ drivers...

Anyway, small scuff, about 2", anyone know typical repair cost so I can temper my reaction?

Also interested in Northern NJ repair shops, can't imagine anything worth driving onto LI for...

This reminded me of a story in papers some 15 years back. Guy in Germany had a wife who had literally dozens of small accidents/mishaps a year. He became so fed up that he went out, and bought a scrapped tank, covered it with old car tires, got it registered/insured/street legal and gave it to her as a gift.

I would think that a tank covered in car tires could be considered 'wife/woman proof'?
