nail in tire...
 

so on my way home after picking up my g from the shop i noticed a weird sound coming from my front left tire. after i got home..went to look and there was a giant nail stuck in the tire. no air leakage so i drove it to nearest tire repair shop. got it patched up in 15 minutes for like $8. question is, will the tire still be good as new or should i think about replacing the whole tire? guy at the repair shop told me it'll be fine for the life of the tire. can i believe him?

It will last. BTW you could have bought a plug kit and DIY for < 5$.

You're fine. I have patched many tires using the DIY plug kit and never had a single issue with the tires. A tire shop patches from the inside and should never give any problems.

Huge difference in between a plug and inside patch. Plugs do come off. I had one come off on me at an autox event.

extra 3 dollars, and 15 min on your *** for a fixed and probably warranted tire is money well spent!

I had the same thing happen to me one time, took the car in for a oil change and they found a nail in my tire. I needed new rear tires anyways, so the service lady replaced the tire with the nail in it for free, as if I had bought the tire from them. And I ended up paying for just the one tire.

The kit comes with tools and extra plugs for future nails. Takes 5min to yank the nail and plug it, obviously you've never fixed one so :7::7::7: back at you

i have.. but i dont want to turn it in to a pissing contest of who repaired more tires... if the wheel has to come off the car.. im not intrested... and if you got more than one nail in tire... maybe its better you take a different route

No need to remove the tire. I am willing to bet the place you take it to won't. Lay down and roll the tire to where the nail is reachable. Pull the nail. Clean up the hole. Plug. Simple.

Of course you are entitled to take it somewhere though. I was just clearing up you may not have to remove the wheel unless you want to patch.
