TPMS Question - Please Don't Flame Me
I have a question about TPMS and time is of the essence. Normally I would do a search, etc to find my answer. If I put Blizzaks on my current OEM rims (same size tire) do I need a TPMS reset? Stock Journey rims with stock P225 / 50R18 tires

no, as long as you use the same TPMS sensors from the oem rims... you are good to go... just dont miss match the where they were. If you had another set of TPMS.. then it would have to be calibrated.

i would keep the front right with the front right and so on...
you could actually use the oem tpms with aftermarket rims that are capable of having them |
So you essentially can't do a tire rotation?
good question.... that's what i was thinking.... doesnt make sense that you can't rotate the tires with recalibrating.....
I’ve done two tire rotations (front to back, etc.) on my Journey and TPMS still works just fine.
as long as they are oem sensors it shouldnt matter the order you put them on the wheels.
thanks folks! Need to get some Blizzaks installed and wasn't sure about the TPMS. Didn't want to get a snow job (no pun intended, ok maybe a little).
If you use the TPMS that's currently on your car you'll be fine. I bought a second set for my winter tires and I need to have the system reset every time I get my summer/winter tires swapped.
Only the 06 and 07 M35/45 TPMS have to be re-registered after a tire rotation. All other infinitis register themselves.
thanks again all .... for now I'm just gonna use the stock rims for summer tires and winter tires, funds are low.

I talked to my local Infiniti dealer about this same thing about a week ago since I bought a second set of 18" wheels and a spare set of OEM sensors to use as winter wheels on my '08 G37.
According to them, tire rotation or changing tires on the original rims does not require any type of reset regardless of which position they are put back on the car. However - if you use a second set of wheels and TPMS sensors (even oem ones), they need to be "re-registered" since the sensors are supposedly matched to the computer, and the computer can only have one set of sensors registered to it at a time. So pf you're thinking about getting a second set of wheels and sensors to use for the winter with your snows, you'll need to do this every time you switch wheels. Price ranges I got from an Infiniti and 2 Nissan dealers ranged between $60 - $90. Or you can just run the second set of rims & tires without any sensors and just live with having the TPMS light on for the winter. Please correct me if I'm wrong anyone. |
but if he leaves it with the light always on,how will he know of it gets low.???
