1cleanG's Tail of the Dragon run!

Well, after 3 days of constant uploading to YouTube, its officially posted!

Took until about half way through to really get a good feel of how fast you can take the turns.

NeXt time I go, I'll be mounting the camera right on my front bumper. Its hard to get an actual feel of how fast we're really taking these turns at this angle. There wasn't a single corner I went around that my tires were barkin' at me.....

It wasn't until I went back and actually watched the video a few times when I realized how damn much I went over the yellow lines. Not okay...but when you're driving that hard you don't even realize it.

Here it is!!

1cleanG, done any track days or autocross?

On the bike, we treat the yellow line as an electric fence. Never know who/what may cut into your lane. Good lines + late apex + slow in fast out = faster corners :)

Driving out there is always a good time. Which direction did you do it in, N-S or S-N? The later is more challenging as it's downhill. Got any pics from killboy?

Jsolo - Actually JUST recently got into Auto-X. Yesterday was my 2nd event, and (knock on wood) haven't hit a single cone! We got 3 runs last weekend(started raining), and yesterday we got 7. I'll be posting up Vids of the auto-x vids tonight. Next up will be track wheels/tires. I'm using my buddy Mike's stock '11 sedan wheels which are 8.5's all around and all season tires, so I'm sliding alllllllllll over the place right now.

Pics from Killboy, I just have the proofs offline for now, still waiting to receive my photos in the mail.

I think autocross is a good start, but it is a somewhat different dynamic with high performance driving on the street. Actual track experience might be more beneficial.

In terms of bikes, although i have close to 20 years riding time, only in the last 4 have I really begun pushing the envelope and really understanding how to corner properly. It's a whole different ball game. Much more confidence inspiring, and the 'fear' factor isn't as fearful as it used to be.

Part of the trick to staying in your own lane the whole time is using your peripheral vision even when you're focusing on the vanishing point (or as far ahead as the corner permits). Late apex is another useful technique. You can probably find many videos/books on the topic too. Good luck!
