TSB for "IPOD not Connected"

I get this with both of my Ipods intermitently

The 160 gb will only cut out for a second or two and then come back, the 60gb for a bit longer

Doesn't happen every ride and might be difficult to recreate on demand but I did a serach here and a TSB is mentioned where a new cable is needed

Has anyone done this and did it fix this issue?

Thanks

E

Get it on my 8 GB and 16 GB touch too from time to time.

Is this replacement cable simply the one connecting to the ipod itself?

From models built before JNKCV64E(*)8M 127835

shumby 10-07-2008 10:22 PM

will the new cable recharge the new 3g i phone?

bboysteele 10-07-2008 10:24 PM

^^I've been told no because the new IPod does not charge though that connection anymore....at least that is what I was told.

^ It's true. I have an iPod Touch 32GB 2nd Generation and it gives me a message sometimes that says something about the accessory will not charge the device. Very annoying. :\

That happens to me occasionally, I've even had my iPod replaced because I thought it was skipping.

Ok, so the answer is that the new iPhone 3G, iPod Touch 2nd Gen and maybe the iPod Nano 4th Gen do not support the common "Firewire charging" method anymore. Many car power adapters, and other accessories, use said method. Traditionally, both USB and Firewire charging was possible, but on the above models only the USB charging method works now.

The iPod interface on the G37 with Premium Package is not meant for charging anyway, but when the older iPods were hooked up there was a "trickle charge" that would keep the battery topped off. Apparently that trickle charge was Firewire-based.

Apple has a third-party adapter by Scosche called a "PassPort". It's an inline adapter that passes the audio signal and adapts a USB charging port. There's a possibility that the Kensington 4-in-1 car charger might work, too. It shouldn't be too bad since we already have a 12-volt power port below the iPod interface in our cars.

I have a 2008 G37S coupe with premium package and an iPod touch 3rd gen (32GB model) with v3.1.2. firmware. Whenever I connect the infiniti provided iPod cable, I get a message on the car screen, "There is no song" and I am not able to use any of the controls in the car to navigate the songs on my ipod. Even though I do have songs. Based on all the posts I've read about charging the newest line of iPods, if I bought one of the following from of the links provided below, will this also fix my "There is No Song" message?"
- Scosche Passport - Charging Adapter
- CableJive Charge Converter - Charge Converter - CableJive
- Ridax Charge Converter - Redirecting you to Ridax programutveckling

XLR8G37 - were you able to resolve your "There is no song" message? I have the same issue.

Can anyone tell me what model/year iPods would allow charging? It's annoying and basically worthless if I have to take my ipod out all the time to charge it.
