In Europe it's an even smaller number, and they only got the M30d and M37. There are some imported M56s there that are selling there. I know some Japanese have also bought the M56s from the US and imported it into Japan since they never got the 5.6 option. Some youtuber is starting to collect a lot of M56s now. If you want to buy one, just do it before the only ones left will be the high mileage ones. You won't be sorry that's for sure. I like the motor so much I am wanting to swap it into the G. Just the adapter plates are difficult to come by for different manual transmissions.
