MPG's In Your M
 

Most of my M driving is around town so it's not very good. About to drive from MD to FL in a few days so I'll be curious to see how it does on that long of a trip. I will post it here next week sometime.

On my 2013 M37X, I get BETTER than advertised !!! During trips with primarily highway mileage [at least 65-70 MPH], I'm getting 24 mpg sometimes 25mpg!!!

I use Premium Gas always.... I also turned off the VDC in dry weather [when I remember to do so]. I read sometime ago on the G forums ( I had 2 Gs previously) that turning off the VDC switch, also helps with less rear brake premature wear. Why? because the theory is that the rear brakes are applied in milliseconds to "stabilize" the ride around bends, windy conditions, minor steering corrections etc.... The VDC applies the brakes at different wheels in a undetectable manner. But turning off the VDC does NOT affect your AWD functions or Traction control from what I read. I never tested that in real time....

That is some good info Almatti, I will have to remember that the next time I'm home. It good that these heavy cars can get really good gas mileage but I brought mine because she looked too dam sexy, lol :JAMIN:.

OK, let me describe the trip first. From MD to FL in two (long) days. My wife was driving the M37x and I was following her in our Xterra pulling a U-Haul trailer. Top speed we drove was 65-68 mph and she does not accelerate fast. We got 27.9 miles per gallon on the M (I got 15.8 on the Xterra). Now this was calculated by resetting the the computer on the M so it may be off slightly if I were to have calculated it the old fashioned way. Basically when I had to get gas (50 miles distance to empty) in the Xterra she still had have a tank left. Used premium and VDC was on.

You got to take it easy with the family, that's pretty awesome 2008G-Man.

With 43K on the clock and with using "winter Blend" Premium gas, I do achieve at highway speeds of 65-70 mph, electronic readout will show 26 to 27 MPGs !!!!! Better than the car was rated. I have never reset the built in MPG setting for the car from the onset of June 2013. That MPG readout which reflects the entire 43K miles, is 22.4 MPG - which is Spot On to the Specs for the car of 2013 M37X. I'm very satisfied. My company has just received 2 new Ford Fusions with the 2.0 EcoBoost Engines. Those are Turbos 2.0 4 cyclinder engines. They are new so not fully Broken in, but first initial 2K miles shows about 23.5 MPG incorporates City (and that's NYC ) traffic, and highway miles. That's only so-so and the Web blogs show that is compliant for the Ford Eco Boost engine: Not getting the spec MPGs.

I think we're going to see similar results with all of these "green" FI engines, unless they're driven exactly as the EPA drives them.

Highway mileage at 80 mph....24.75 MPG...City 18.5.....

Four fill ups each way with two fill ups while in Florida with local driving.
Vehicle computer is reset at every fill up. My best MPG on two tank-fulls was 25.71 from exit 1 in Ga. to Lake Worth Florida and 25.44 from Ashland, Va back to Central NJ
All regular 87 Octane WaWa, Pilot, BP, Sunoco and Loves.
The third fill up on the return was 20.2 MPG due to driving in a raging snow storm in NC last Sunday

Yes it does, and so did my previous 06 G35 6 speed and my 2012 G37S 6 speed.
I discovered it is total BS and have saved thousands of dollars over the past thirteen years by using regular 87 octane.
