Let's talk about Radar detectors for Texas Roads
So, it seems the purchase of my new baby is going to require me to purchase a radar detector to keep me safe.
I've researched some and it seems the 3 top detectors are: 1. Escort 9500 2. Escort Redline 3. Valentine 1 The escort 9500 seems to be the best all around detector w/the ability to put false alerts into a database and the use of GPS to know where the hot spots are while the Redline and Valentine 1 seem to be the best long distance detectors but have a lot of false positives. Does anyone have any recommendations for which one to get or something different for Texas roads and the types of radar Texas and more specific Dallas/Ft. Worth law enforcement use? Thanks... |
Honestly, it doesn't matter.
If the officer is using a "gun", no radar detector is gonna help and they're gonna bag you anyway. |
Well, you can get a jamer but once that goes off you better slow down quickly and turn off the jamer
|
So, are you saying that most law enforcement in TX use lasers in instead of some other type of radar like instant on etc..?
|
On highways where we're going the fastest they usually use guns.. Get yourself a jammer. I've had the valentine 1 and a few older escorts.. I honestly think the 9500 is the one to go with also a pretty price tag.

Escort....
They use K, Ka and some laser. |
Escort w/ GPS is what I use and it works great.
No detector can do anything against instant-on or laser but to let you know that you've been pinged. I've seen several cars in Plano w/ laser jammers. Laws were changed recently regarding jammers so check them out. You could spend forever looking at jammers, last time I saw, Blinder was a good choice. There was some fishy stuff with laser interceptor but some of the Dallas jammer forums/meetup groups could probably set you straight. |
