Windshield replacement in Austin

Anyone know of a place that would do good work for a windshield replacement? About two weeks ago, something came up off the road and smacked my windshield right above my steering wheel. I got the two chips/cracks repaired, but it's still kind of bothering me when I drive, because of where it is. I was thinking about just going ahead and replacing the windshield, but I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations of a place they know would do good work.

Thanks in advance :)

u can always call up sun tint in austin, and just ask them who they recommend. they are respected by me.

I thought I read somewhere on here that you can get your windshield replaced for free... Through Insurance or something... :dunno: Not 100% sure though...

I have a 2003 sedan and had to have mine replaced, I went to Pro Glass. That was a few years ago and no problems. I don't know about now, but there was a $200 deductible to replace it.

I will have to go through insurance, but it's a $250 deductible for me. I'm hoping that the replacement wouldn't be too difficult. The place I got my repair from seemed pretty decent, so I figured I might go through them. I don't know how hard it is to replace the windshield on our cars, but if it's difficult, I would be wary because I don't want to deal with hassling the company to repair my car if they damage it.

I guess I will just have to see how long I can deal with these chips. They sealed up pretty well, and if it were anywhere else on my windshield, I would have been ok with this. Oh well

Its very easy to replace the windshield, they did it in my driveway in about 1hr. You may want to check with your insurance company, they may not replace it just for the chips. Mine developed a very large crack.

The windshield isn't cheap, they quoted me a price of $1000-$1500 depending on if the car had the premium package or not.

Well, the chips are right in my line of vision while driving, so it's really a traffic hazard to me. I'm pretty sure they will cover it. Where did you get yours installed from, and what was your opinion of the work done?

The company is called Pro Glass and they are mobile, so they come to where ever you are. I watched them install it, if i remember correctly, all they had to do was remove the weather stripping.
