Nicely done, you can also pick one up here for half the price as Amazon - just takes a few days longer to get but same company..

Good point, I was aware of that. I paid the premium on Amazon for a few reasons.
  1. I have Amazon Prime and it got to me in 2 days.
  2. I had some Amazon gift cards from the holidays.
  3. If it was garbage, I could easily return it to Amazon, lol.

That's where I was at when I decided to go this direction. The Dallas Customs wheel I wanted was going to be about $450, plus I would have to buy a second steering wheel. I knew I wanted an upgraded wheel, but wasn't sure if I was willing to pay that much. I don't have any regrets with my decision.

If you don't mind, how much did you pay for it? Is it true that the place that did your steering wheel is out of business?

Yours looks kind of different that Dalton's though. Do you know how much it would be without CF?

They only make CF, that's the name of their company. Carbon Fiber Elements.

So my wheel modifications and carbon fiber overlay on stock pieces were both done by IGT if my memory is correct a few years ago. I am not sure why this was posted on CFE's facebook page unless they are really the same company or maybe they were just showing the carbon fiber interior pieces installed. ????

Session 1:

First time taking the steering wheel off: ~ 30 minutes

First time taking steering wheel trim off: ~ 10 minutes

Aligning leather and applying double sided tape: ~ 2 hours

Figuring out how to do the stitch pattern: ~ 1 hour

Stitching the straight sections and pulling it tight: ~ 3 hours

Reinstalling steering wheel: ~ 15 minutes

Session 2:

Second time taking the steering wheel off: ~ 15 minutes

Second time taking steering wheel trim off: ~ 5 minutes

Stitching the corner sections and pulling it tight: ~ 2 hours

Finishing touches and reinstall: ~ 1 hour

Total Time Spent: ~ 10+ hours of labor

I learned a lot though and it was a fun project. I have modified and retrofit headlights previously so I am no stranger to tedious and laborious projects. If I had to do it again, I could probably do it much quicker.

Looks incredible.

Did you use any particular reference to remove and replace the wheel? Did you mess with the guts/air bag?

Really nice work.

Sean

Dude, you're answering all the wrong questions. This thread is specifically about non-CF(E) wheels

Yes, but OP didn't want CF and got what he wanted
