Tony over at CFE did my flat bottom, thicker, wheel. I think there are photos in my build thread. If not PM me and I can get you a photo or two. I found with him it was best to text or call him.

I may decide to sell mine once I get my lights sold and have some available cash.

I looked at your wheel and it's pretty close to what I'm looking for. PM me if you are interested in selling and have a price in mind.

Wheel from CFE

I am having Tony at CFE make me a CF wheel with CF inserts for the controls in black leather with red stitching for 700.00

Just curious what your solution ended up being? I'm on the same merry-go-round now. All of the nice re-shaped ones have a CF insert and I want all leather. Waiting on replies from the same guys you posted about.

Put simply, it's a night and day difference in appearance and feel.

Thanks! I purchased a kit and hand stitched it myself. The supplied stitching and thread didn't match so I used a fabric dye pen to color match it to the sport grey stitching.

It is a serious amount of labor.

Whoa, 60 bucks is nothing. I'm not sure I could make that look very good, though...

I greatly underestimated the time this project would take, which made it more difficult since I had to reinstall the steering wheel half done to get to work after failing to complete the project on Sunday. Here are my estimated times spent on each part of the process as I recall:

Session 1:

First time taking the steering wheel off: ~ 30 minutes

First time taking steering wheel trim off: ~ 10 minutes

Aligning leather and applying double sided tape: ~ 2 hours

Figuring out how to do the stitch pattern: ~ 1 hour

Stitching the straight sections and pulling it tight: ~ 3 hours

Reinstalling steering wheel: ~ 15 minutes

Session 2:

Second time taking the steering wheel off: ~ 15 minutes

Second time taking steering wheel trim off: ~ 5 minutes

Stitching the corner sections and pulling it tight: ~ 2 hours

Finishing touches and reinstall: ~ 1 hour

Total Time Spent: ~ 10+ hours of labor

I learned a lot though and it was a fun project. I have modified and retrofit headlights previously so I am no stranger to tedious and laborious projects. If I had to do it again, I could probably do it much quicker.
