SOLD - AAM Competition S-Line / R-Line Cold Air Intake System

First things first, I'm in NW DC on the MD border, but there's no DC in the Location drop down.

I purchased these CAIs for my wife's '13 G37x hoping to use them in the "S" configuration for a few years until we were ready to go full bolt on with a proper tune, but they don't seem to play well with the cat-back and HFCs. They were easy to install, looked great, and really made the whole car sound amazing. However, the computer couldn't seem to adjust to the air flow and was either shaky at idle/low speeds or throwing engine checks at moderate speeds. After exhausting my abilities and consulting local Z/VQ garages it seems that having the car tuned would be the only way forward. My wife's not interested in going down that path right now, and if we're not going to the track there's no way to get our money's worth out of more performance mods while driving inside the DC beltway.

These where on the car for maybe 2 months and 200 miles. They have a set of Z1 PCV hoses trimmed to fit nicely to our '13 G37x. Hopefully I can claw back some of the $575 that I spent on them and someone else can put the to good use...they've been off for a day and I already miss the noise that I didn't really know was there until it was gone.

Just to help with OP post

2.75" T6061 Aluminum Tubing
Precision CNC S-Line Tuning Insert

4-Ply Silicone Couplers & Stainless Steel Clamps

Msg op is - the product states that CAI is adjustable, have you tried to adjust the advertised part?

Yeah, that's the whole reason I purchased these instead of the Z1 intakes that would have been even easier to install. Even with the Tuning Insert restricting the air flow at the MAF sensor the ECU couldn't settle

Have you reached out to AAM? its interesting that this CAI is adjustable but its not "3.

Maybe your ecu is confused, that the sensor is sensing low amount of airflow but it realizes that you are getting more air in the combustion cycle..

I talked with AAM. They were pretty gracious about it and offered me a break on the price of a tune and some other options, but they didn't have a simple fix.

The MAF readings where fine, but when the ECU eventually smoothed out the rough low speed and idle performance I stated to get misfires and lean conditions. After I cleared those it went back to rough low speed and idle, then eventually back to smooth with misfires and lean errors, and on and on. Putting the stock airboxes back in fixed everything. It is what it is, and the whole process made me realize that I'm never going to have the time and space to drive it hard unless I take it to the track, and that's not happening for a while...if I still lived in LA and had those lovely costal roads it's be worth it, but not here in traffic camera land
