ONEighty: 2010 G37x Sedan Build | ARK | Autokit-X | BC.Racing | TSW | 180°

We had the pleasure of putting together this build for a client named Alen from NJ. More than a decade ago, he was into the car modification scene down in Florida, had a built up Supra, and loved to go fast, but life changed for him when he had a family, along with a son who unfortunately was diagnosed with autism. Alen and his family packed their bags and moved their life to NJ because the Tri-State area just happens to have some of the greatest autism treatment centers in the country. His life now revolves around his son 24/7, while his wife works full time at Wall St. After purchasing this family car nearly a year ago, he had the itch to make a few changes to his car, but being out of the game for more than 10 years, he didn't know where to start.

Eventually Alen ended up visiting several local accessory shops which ended up slapping some LED strips on his headlights and mirrors, along with... "Brembo" caliper covers. He wasn't happy with the direction his car was going in, and after speaking to several friends he was put in contact with us.

Alen was straight forward with us, and told us that he wants everything done at once to save himself the multiple trips from Hoboken to Brooklyn. With a general idea in mind, he drove down to us to set a game plan for this build, and break it up into 2 phases. After several ideas being thrown back and forth, we opened his eyes towards a whole new direction he wanted to take with his car. We offered this aggressive, yet not to flashy build, but also with some good attention to detail, and it was game on for him.

After finalizing our ideas, this is what phase 1 consisted of:

  • ARK Performance Cat-Back Exhaust (modified to fit the X model)
  • TSW Nurburgring 19x9" ET32 wrapped in Falken FK 452 245/35R/19 Tires all around
  • BC Racing AWD Coilovers
  • Autokit-X Rear Diffuser in Flat Black
  • Autokit-X Rear Trunk Spoiler
  • OEM Front Lip
  • 180° Re-Upholstered Steering: Alcantara Grips, Perforated leather top and bottom grips, 1/8" thick padding, with red cross stitching
  • 180° Flat Black headlights w/ Gloss Black Projector shrouds, Yellow "Eye-Brow" and our new LED Orb Rings
  • 180° Gloss Black Grille with Flat Black frame and emblem.
  • Gloss Black Foglight Rings
  • Gloss Black Window Trim
  • Light Smoke on the Taillights
  • Flat Black rear Emblems
  • 180° Prototype FSTB :)
Build began with the exhaust, coilovers and rims.

Test fitting our prototype front strut bar that happened to arrive that day

The bar fit well, so we decided to let him keep it on his car, a few more are on the way for heavy duty stress testing

Rims on, car off the lift...

As much as we loved the drop height, it was unbearable to drive, going over the slightest dip, or a slightly raised manhole cover would smash the bottom of the car so hard that your teeth would clinch. AWD models have a terrible issue with lowering, you simply CANNOT drive that low, you will destroy your car within a few days, if not total it. Simply unsafe and hazardous. It was sitting exactly 25" off the ground at the center arch of the fenders, we raised it back up to 26" and the ride was perfect.

And sitting about 1" off the ground from underneath.

Amazing job. I love the little accent color in the yellow and think when the calipers get done it will tie it all together. Gave me some more ideas for my sedan but with malbec black it is hard to get an accent color since the car looks black at night and that deep purple in the sun.

Keep up the great work!
