Became a 08 G37s owner today!
Hello G gurus,
just picked up 2008 G37s coupe manual today. It’s got a lil over 129k miles but it’s it pretty decent shape consisting it is 10+ years old. Will try to take some pics and post them soon.
I was trying to search for some info but was unsuccessful and wondering if someone could point me to right direction on mechanic shops or mechanics I could possibly take the car to get some maintenance done. Or if there is like some type of meet ups for group wrenching ( I am a noob to that sorta stuff as well )
will try and stay active. Hope to see you guys on the road soon!
cheers

Welcome, Welcome! Since you have an 08 I’d be aware of the oil gallery gasket issue those years engines can have. So if it happens you know what the symptom are.

This... I have a 2008 and the gallery gasket went out.. so I bought a used engine (70k miles).. put about 8k miles on it and the gallery gasket went out on it... So... I had the hard choice... sell it as is (runs) but doesn't go over 2500rpm.... pay the stealership 4500 to fix it... pay for "another engine".... or fix it myself... Right now I have the entire front end off of my g37s everything is off.. all I have to do now is heat up around the timing cover to take it off... once inside its pretty simple... then put it back together and hope it doesn't happen again... Its been down for a while.. but realistically I have maybe 6 hours into it to take the whole front end off. Im no mechanic but I am mechanically inclined and I after seeing a few videos online I was confident enough to take the job on myself. Once I get her up and running I'm going to enjoy it again. I have pictures if you'd like to check it out. Make sure you keep up on your oil changes. Its a precaution but not guaranteed it wont happen. I got the upgraded gaskets so it "shouldn't" happen to mine.
