New to me ‘12 G37xS & 6 Month Ownership Thoughts
Hi, I’m Bill; 24 years old from Prince Edward Island, Canada (probably heard about some tropical-ish island in Atlantic Canada, which it’s not by any stretch of imagination). I got my first G back last July 25th in Montreal (13 hour drive to and from). I bought a 2012 Infiniti G37xs with 65k kms on it (40k miles) for $21k. Not a bad deal, it is fully loaded with the tech package, aftermarket Niche wheels and OEMs with winter tires. Previously owned a 2004 Toyota Solara SLE V6. Nice step up. As far as I know, there’s maybe 3 G37s in the province? Not a very common sight.
Man, what a car. I was looking for a luxury coupe with a bit of pizzaz. Was thinking of a Lexus before, but they’re either ugly (see 2007 Lexus SC) or out of my price range. I remembered thinking Nissan has something of the sorts and sure enough I found what I was looking for. Probably lurked the forums for 5 months before buying one, and waited until I found one I wanted (and could reasonably afford). Wanted Malbec black, but the Graphite Shadow is pretty nice too. Low mileage, one owner. Car drives great, sounds nice, and got several compliments. I’m used to old people praising my Toyota. No more, lol.
Learned so much from just reading threads on the forum. Was going to go for a ~2010 for price range but I stuck it out to get the 2012 for better maintenance. Knew what to look for, what to watch out, and ideas for the future. No major mods for the future, as I like my car stock for the most part, but I might do LED turn signals, upgraded sway bars, 245/40/19 tires, and different rims. I don’t think I’ll have to ever ask a question here as it’s probably already answered. Has been so far!
What I learned (for the most part) in owning it for 6 months:
-Drives like a bat out of h e double hockey sticks
-It is not as fuel efficient as an old Toyota (who cares anyways)
-I love cold starting the car
-People think you are driving faster than you are just because it sounds a little louder than a Honda Civic.
-There are such things as different lug nut types, and using spleen tuner lugs do not fit OEM rims (story for another day)
-I wish there was an Infiniti dealer nearby (3 hours and a $46 toll away), but the Nissan dealer is nice
-That trunk space tho (or lack thereof)
-Memory seats are great, and setting it to each key fob (my girlfriend drives it on occasion) is a really nice touch
-I either get asked “What kind of car is that?” Or “What mods are you gonna do?” Depends on the person.
-The door loves to freeze and not open when it’s cold outside
-It’s stiffer suspension than I thought, but it feels very smooth, stable, and not back breaking
-You can forget how fast you are going
-The brakes are huge. And they will stop you very quickly if you try.
I feel like I’ll have this car for a while. Love it.
Feel free to hit me up, if you’re ever in Atlantic Canada haha.

Nice car! I too just purchased a .2012 graphite shadow sedan X back in July with 59,000 miles. Absolutely love it! I added LED interior lights and Fog lights and need to tint the windows. Enjoy the car and loved the pics,
