Getting a new to me G. Few questions for you all

Hello everyone.

So I've been looking at G's for a few days now and think I want to pull the trigger.
I have been looking around here too, and found the only real bad issue some of these cars have is the oil galley gasket failing. My question, did Infiniti fix this problem on later cars with a upgraded gasket? Is there certain MY I should stay away from? Most of the threads I read where from 2007-2009 MY where the gasket failed.

I am currently looking at a 2013 G37x with 33k.
The other car I am also considering is a G25x, I know it doesn't have the power of the 3.7l but I'm ok with that if it doesn't have the dreaded gasket failure..

Thanks for your time fellas

Chris

2012 and later got the better gasket. Buy the 2013 with confidence.

Awesome! Thanks for the help. Do you know if the G25 is plagued with the gasket issue?

Very few G25 owners post here. Don't know where they congregate or if the 2.5L has issues.

Welcome to the site, I would avoid the G25, a rare bird w/ much smaller aftermarket support (for the engine, not the car). And like slartibartfast said, the 2013 won't have that gasket issue.

Also the G25 gets barely better gas mileage at a big sacrifice in performance, no wins there

I noticed how rare the G25 is while looking for a 37. I'm in the process of getting a 2013 G37x with 33k on it. It does have a salvaged title, but I am getting a killer deal on it. I'm hoping to drive it to 150k as a daily driver or until the wheels fall off so I don't care about resale value as I plan on keeping it. It was in a rear end collision that involved passenger side quarter panel damage, which needed to be replaced. The car is right around 7k under market value. I figure why pay the same price for a clean title and 80,000 - 100,000 miles when I can get 33k miles for same money?

If that's your plan to drive it till it's basically done, not a bad choice, just be sure to give it a good drive/inspection to be sure nothing significant is affected that will be a safety or big monetary issue.
