How do you start your car?

When I first got my G37 I always pressed the button once for ON, then a second time for ACC, then I would press it a third time while my foot was on the brake to start the actual engine. The other day I was thinking about this method, and I realized it's going to exponentially increase the times I press the start button. So, as of late, I have been placing my foot on the brake and holding the button just once to go directly from ON->ACC->Start Engine without any pauses.

The reason I bring this up is because I have heard in the past that going immediately from ON->ACC->Starting engine without any pause is harmful for the car/engine. I don't know how or why, but just something I've been told in the past. Maybe someone else has also heard of this phenomenon?

Anyways, how does everyone else start their car?

Press brake and press start button as long as is necessary to engage the starter. Your information source is wrong in regards to the G. Maybe a crappy BMW thing?

You don't need to prime anything. Hold the brake, press start.

Now that it's gotten a bit colder I usually start it with the remote start as I'm putting my shoes on and it runs about a minute before I get in it.

Who told you?

"I have heard", "someone told me that", "others have said"
You sound like our a$$hole president.
Read your owners manual

Put your foot on the brake pedal and press start!

A quick google search brings up multiple results with people talking about this in various car makers. Yes, I know it doesn't include the G37, but since it was such a common question I wanted to pose it amongst g owners to generate some discussion.

Why the hostility though? I thought forums were a place for discussion. This is the newbie corner no?

I suppose some makes want to be sure the ECU is ready and fuel rail pressurized. Not an issue with the G.

hey you wanna know how i start my car. i run around the car 10 times counter clockwise. then i jump up and down 3 times. i then touch my nose with my left pinky finger. next i grab my crotch and scratch my ***** with my right hand and wait for my ball sack to drop. last i need to blow a fart then i can proceed to press the "start" button as the technique i referenced above will provide optimal fuel injector timing and prevent backfires.
lol......
