Warranty or No Warranty

So I am about to go check out a 2010 G37x coupe with only 42K miles for $14,700. I personally dislike these 3rd Party extended warranties. I feel for what you pay for it, you actually do not get back. Most companies do not cover problems what are "pre-conditioned". Also if these companies didn't make money off of us buying the warranties how are they still around? This is my personal view on them.

I was wondering if you guys can give me some insight of what you think of these warranties?

I had a 3rd party warranty years ago on a 93 Eclipse. It definitely paid off because I really only paid $500 for the warranty when I bought the car, and the transmission went out 5 months into ownership and they paid for the tow and all but $200 of the rebuild. The rebuild was almost as much as I paid for the car.

I've got a convertible and bought the warranty really just for fixing the top. Certainly worth it. I checked with them about after market parts, too. They still cover everything else, just not the parts I put on. Just make sure to read the fine print.

Yea, got mine to cover the top when it breaks. If it was a coupe / sedan, I'd probably skip it. These cars are quite reliable.

Get the fluids changed, best warranty you can buy.

Those 3rd party warranties are pretty hit or miss. I'd try to get one through Infiniti if you are wanting extra protection. Some of the fine print on denying a claim on those can be pretty vague such as "failure due to overheating", how are you going to prove that your blown head gasket wasn't heat related???
G/L w/ whatever you decide & end up with and hopefully we can give you an official "welcome to the site" w/ a new G!

Get a trusted mechanic to inspect the vehicle. If it passes scrutiny, I would skip on the insurance. These are very solid vehicles that don't require much maintenance. At least in my experience.

Had a 2010 g37x coupe with 52,000 miles on it and never had any issues

Bought a warranty with mine, read some reviews on the company the warranty was through and found out they don't cover labor costs on repairs. Immediately went back and cancelled the warranty and got the full cost back.
