Can I squeal the tires on takeoff?
I guess if I turn off the traction control and "punch it" at a stoplight, I'll get some tire sqealing, yes? Will the G37 do that?
To turn off traction control, it's the switch on the lower left that shows swerve lines, right?
I've never owned a car that could make tires squeal, just wondering if the G37 has that ability.... I'd think it can, but don't really know.

If you're looking to have a little bit of fun, turn the traction control off and let her rip - they'll chirp.
Before doing this though, I highly recommend playing in a empty parking lot first so you can see how the car handles since you've yet to go WOT without TC turned off..

I tried turning off the traction control and hitting the gas once, but all I got was acceleration.... I was too cautious to "bury my foot" in the throttle, so maybe I wasn't aggressive enough.
I'm used to driving much "milder" cars- i.e., typical Japanese 4-cyl naturally aspirated sedans and 2-doors, The power produced by the G37 is intimidating in comparison.... I've done some hard acceleration on on-ramps and in a few other situations, always with TC engaged.
Your advice is solid, I'll have to find some safe situation / large empty parking lot where I can get a feel for the car with TC turned off.

Have fun, just remember that on the public roads it's better that the stability control is left on. It's not all that obtrusive and much safer should something unexpected happen

Just be aware of any curbs or light poles but if you pin the throttle they'll chirp. You'll get used to it after about 6 months if you aren't already there but the first thing I did was find a parking lot to see what it was like going WOT while turning the wheel; or going WOT while rolling - among other scenarios. I wanted to know what to expect so there would be no surprises.

I am a newbie when it comes to performance issues. Most of my posts to date have been technical posts re: the audio system, and this "can I squeal the tires" is a newbie question..... sorry if I broke etiquette...

Mustangs are fine to do burnouts in except when the pedestrian count exceeds 2...anymore more than that, adds 841 WHP instantly once RPMs exceed 3k and steering is lost. Also activates the "carnivore" mode which results in the car having desire for human blood. Attacks on pedestrians have occurred.
@Jsolo - I guess living in Chi-raq, you never get the car over 30mph huh? Never gotten a little loose carving up a back road? Or are we the guy cruising at 35 in a 50...

IMO, I'd rather someone who's curious about their car explore its tendencies in a safe environment, such as a parking lot, rather than discovering it while trying to make a split second decision that could impact others; and end up a news story.
While I realize the average G37 owner in 08-09 was about mid 30's (mid 40's now), Hand-me-down vehicles for the 08-09 members were typically low power 4 bangers with 120 HP; not 225+ like our older members more than likely drove.
In the 80's and even 90's cars had torque-y V8s and V6s since gas wasn't even an after thought. So a lot of us younger enthusiasts are transitioning into our first vehicles with over 200 HP.
While driving like a moron (see burnout video above) always results in an eye roll, I think someone who is generally curious and asking about advice on exploring vehicle tendencies, power, etc. out of curiosity is ok. A lot of times, members tell them to track them or play in a controlled environment and the new members are grateful.
Also, it always irks me a bit when someone who considers themselves an enthusiast acts as though they've never had some good ol fashion fun in this car.
Edit: I guess what I'm trying to say is, We can usually tell the trolls from the genuinely curious. Don't be so quick to dismiss someone for having a question, as silly as it may seem.
