Just bought an Obsidian Black 2011 G37x

Hey guys -

I drove a 2011 G37x off the dealer lot today and couldn't be happier. I've had my eye on this car for a while and was just waiting for the right one to come through the dealership - Premium Package, Navigation, and AWD.

I drove the 3 series and the Lexus IS, and the G37 was hands down the best combo of drive and nice interior - really enjoying the car. Here are a few pictures on my drive up Lookout Mountain in Golden, CO today:

Here's a really cool panorama from the top of Lookout, you can see Denver in the right middle and the Rockies on the left side. Click through and zoom in, it's pretty cool.

I'm taking it in for a clear bra next week - anything else I should look to add on or mod without going too crazy?

Awesome pictures! They look great and so does the car! Congrats.

You should get the midnight black grille, it gives the G, especially in black, a more sporty appeal, if you want one check the for sale section and see if anyone is selling one so you don't have to pay full price at the dealership.

Thanks for putting the pics inline for me

First on my shopping list is some sort of rear spoiler. Not a big fan of the stock spoiler, but I do like the G35 style seen here: Infiniti G37 on VVSCV2 Wheels. Are there any other options that are a bit of a different style than the OEM spoiler?

Nice part about that one is it's dirt cheap on ebay compared to any other spoiler. Stillen makes one that sits on top of the chrome and is a mild "duck bill". Autokitsx makes one as well that covers the chrome finisher.

If you're looking for easy cheap mods as well, changing the interior bulbs to LED's is really easy and makes a big difference IMO, love mine (diode dynamics is a vendor here).

Also you can vinyl wrap your grille much cheaper and easier than buying a midnight grille if you want that look:

Thanks Blamb - I also like the Stillen model that doesn't cover the chrome lip. General question - can I assume all G35 spoilers will fit and look the same on my G37? Did they change the back end very much between the two models?

The 07-08 have the same trunk I believe, any older than that and they're different. A lot of sites say they won't guarantee they will fit but the actual trunk its self is the same from what I've seen. I know that OEM one you mentioned will fit though.

I wish I could give you a definite answer about the trunks 07-09 vs 10-12. I bought mine off this vendor on ebay:

I thought it came out pretty nice. I personally didnt do the installation, but I had a local body shop do it and he said the install was pretty smooth

Here is how mine turned out on my 2007 sedan:

Absolutely love the way your wrapped grille looks - even better than the factory midnight grill IMO.

Just picked up this sheet of vinyl and am going to try it out next week.

Thanks! I'm very happy with how it turned out. Make sure to pick up an xacto knife if you don't already have one, or put a new blade on it.

Here's a DIY for grille removal, watch out for those little posts by the radiator overflow, they're a pain in the butt to get off. Some have recommended trimming them slightly to make it easier to get on and off.
