New G37-Coming from CVT...suggestions?

Just switched out of a Generation 7 Max over to 2010 G37 Journey Sedan with Premium package....Liq. Platnium with Black interior. Wanted to ask a question...coming from a CVT for a transmission for years (had an Altima before the Max) I am having some trouble getting used to going back to the 7 gear transmission. Too often I am either slow poking it out of the box or I seem to be moshing the pedal too hard and the rpm's are flying into the 6000's but the car is not responding for about a second. Do your G's seem to respond better to a slow run up on speed, from a stop, or am I simply using this baby wrong?

I've had a similar experience going from the Maxima to the 2008 5AT. Interesting that you have the same thing in the 7AT. I am curious to hear thoughts from the experts.

Try driving it in ds mode and see what happens. Ds mode should respond more dynamically, but at the cost of more gas. The tranny may have to learn your driving style in d mode.

Try using DS mode or manual mode

I just read that long thread about the ITB10-075 ECU reflash. Might consider trying to reset my ECU first to see if that helps though I live over an hour away from the closest Infiniti dealer so am fearful of doing something to disable the car and not have a dealer near.

I tried driving around surface streets in DS and on the highway in D, today. I liked it better but noticed the higher RPMs at cruising speed on streets.

I read the ECU stuff today as well and will probably try tonight.

I've had my G for month, the think is D mode will try to accomodate your accelerator pressure in the most conservative gear vs rpm. As such, it will seem to lug at times if you are gently accelerating until you press it hard enough to downshift. The downside is the seeming loss of performance, the upside is the gas mileage.

DS mode reacts more sportily at the expense of gas mileage. I wouldn't be too quick to reset the ecu, I would drive it for a while to get the feel of it.

Haven't done the ECU yet. Part of me agrees about giving it some time; I am no car expert. It is a big change from the Max. I feel like I am getting used to it but at times still get that high RPM "rev" or the thing where it seems to stick at like 4k RPM. I am sure this is just my lack of experience...

This - I have 1500 miles and it takes some getting used too. No issue, just getting the feel.

I reset the ECU on mine (bought it with about 12K miles) and it did help some as long as I really give it gas...as suggested in another post, above, but if you just hit the pedal light heartedly it really does not take off and has all kind of issues with gearing. I also still have the issue, especially when at a steady speed for a time, where if I hit the pedal hard the RPM's flash up thousands but the car goes no where for a second or two at which point it "catches" on and goes.

I did the ECU too and am happy with the result. I still use DS around town to get the instant response I want. Love driving this thing!

EDIT: PS, mine had 24k miles on it and I noticed a big difference when I reset the ECU.

Just skip the automatic and get yourself a proper manual transmission. Problem solved!
