What's the deal with TSBs?
My buddy has a 350z and wanted to get the grease streak TSB done on his car. Everytime he went before, the dealership claimed that they didn't know what he was talking about now I pulled the TSB for him and the dealership now says that since he didn't bring it to them under warranty (he's over 36K) that he'll probably have to pay to have it done. Does anyone know this is suppose to work? Thanks!

TSB's are only covered under warranty if the vehicle is still within the warranty period. Now, since he had brought the problem to the attention of that dealer while the car was still in the warranty period, they should cover it. The dealer can run a "GRT" or Goodwill Recomendation Tool and get Nissan to cover the repair even though it is beyond warranty coverage. This is a minor repair and the parts and labor cost on it aren't very much, Nissan should have no problem accepting the GRT request.
Your friend's dealer ship sound like they have absolutely no idea what they are doing in the first place if they say they haven't heard of that problem. This is a well known problem and we have done hundreds of this same repair on 350Z's. So, make sure your friend has all the paperwork with him from the previous visits when he was still in warranty, and they told him they couldn't fix it, and have him bring in the TSB, and he probably is going to have to request the GRT and stand there with the advisor until the GRT is ran and accepted. If they still jerk him around have him come see me at Nissan in Fairfax. 703-460-6632. |
Thanks Jeff! I figured if anyone would know it would be you. I think the only snag for my friend is that they probably never documented it when he requested it. So it's probably not on any of his service requests or invoices. I'll let him know and see what he can do. BTW, he won't even drive to VA for a meet I doubt he'll drive to Fairfax for service. =) Thanks again!
