Byrnie's STEREO SHIETZ

Hey ryan. How much did everything cost. Break everything down and installation too.

Byrnie Jul 5, 2005 10:41 AM

I don't remember all the charges but I had Blair over at Tweeter in Tysons Corner do mine. He did a great job there. I waited until all the Momo stuff was on sale let's see if I can remember what I paid but you don't need a sub with these speakers I can tell you that much. I love these speakers I'm a big polk fan though so I could be a tad bias but I just love how their 6x9s provide enough bass that you don't really need subs IMO. I do like my bass to be equal with my mids and highs though, not a fan overpowering bass. Ok I found the charges at least for the speakers it came to about 1,400 bucks:

Polk Audio Momo C400.4 (Amp) $399
Polk Audio Momo MMC6500 (Components) $299 x 2 (left and right)
Polk Audio Momo MMC690 $(rear 6x9s) $199

Total not counting installation or tax = $1200

bumped for puria. They were on sale (all the Momo stuff) when I got them and the prices were identical to crutchfield's website at that point.

How come you had to purchase 2 sets of components? Did you replace the mid 6.5" speakers with components?

Byrnie Jul 18, 2005 04:37 PM

they sell components separately meaning you have to buy the lefts and rights separately.

Espresso Jul 18, 2005 04:49 PM

I've never heard of having to buy left and right speakers/tweeters separately unless you've blown out one of them and need a replacement. They normally come in a set with 2 woofers and 2 tweeters. I hope the $299 x 2 you quoted earlier was a typo cause the complete set is suppose to be $299. It's bascially the same price on crutchfield and everywhere else. I would hate for them to screw you and charge $600 for the set. For $600, you can get mid grade Focals, MB Quart and a number of other high-end components.

Yup. Focals and MB Quarts are great!! Go fleabay and you can have them for $500 (minus warranty)
