I dont know if AT's are known for these problems.. but i would recommend JWT pop charger or a short ram intake over any CAI's for the VQ engine... whether its 6MT or 5AT.. shouldnt make a difference.

hmmmmm..... I've had mine for a year, and it wasnt even a name brand CAI, it was a cheapo Ebay CAI... I think he's just pullin your chain

having a CAI wouldn't cause you to crash LOL. It may not be a good idea in the rain but thats about it lol.

there have been stall issue with CAI. I think with injen when there's no heat shield. I think it has something to do with the air raming in that effect something. I don't know if that's a 6MT or 5AT issue. I do know a couple have reported their car stalling when they let out the gas pedal. Perhap that's what he's refering to. I think Filanj is a vet member so he wouldn't make such a retarded claim w/o facts. Honestly, z-tube and K&N is truely the way to go unless you want sound or whatever. I've never been a fan of short ram on our VQ due to the amount of heat the engine produces. Nothing will shielf your filter from the heat better than the oem air box.

I'm thinking the same thing on that one. But then, if you get one with a bypass that significantly reduces the likelyhood of even that happening. Never heard of a CAI causing a crash. Only the engine locking from water intake.

i have a injen cai, works just fine with out any problems, ive seem some mas blow, for some reason but thats abt it, no major problems at all in rain, snow, hot, cold weather runs great

i have sucke din water on my 2003 lexus gs430 before and locked up the engine, do to the mid air duct behind the grill similar to the g35's but the only reason this happened was because i was going thru a deep puddle and it was my only way home and i saw little hondas make it thru without a prob and then i start going while no one is in it and its all calm waters and a 18 wheeler rips thru from the other side and oposit direction sending a wave over my hood and it hit my wind shield, i felt my car life and float, taht was a sad day, but at least insurance bought me a new engine

Yeah I've herd of this happening before. I don't know if it only happens to 5AT.

terryw Jun 16, 2007 11:45 AM

yes, I am affraid it is 100% true. The excessive heat generated via the CAI will cause solid state atomic fusion of the particles in your cylinders. Your car would spontaneously combust into a ball of concentrated matter that releases over 1000000000000000000kj of energy leaving a crater the combined size of MD, VA and DC.

He's probably talking about the stall thing. If you're engine stalls while your driving the power steering doesn't work. This would make the car very hard to control and increase your chance of an accident.
But as it's been said unless you just want the look, just go with a popcharger w/ heatshield.
