Best LCD's for gaming?
 

Im looking for a fast processing, vivid picture LCD for our new family room, and I am lost on what to get. I read the Sharp Aquos has an artifacting issue, the Samsung LCDs have an issue with the HDMI dropping out, and im still looking into others. Any experiences with good long pixel life LCD's?

Looking for 52" TV and a 42 for the Master bdrm.

Damn, you must have your own printing press to have all this extra loot. Didn't you just buy a new house and now furnishing it with big screens already?

I'd suggest a Samsung LCD or a Pioneer Plasma...

I'm going for a Sharp Aquos 1080p 42" LCD (LC42D62U).

It's top-rated in Consumer Reports, and top-recommended by my AV-aficionado friends.

I just got quoted CAD$2000.00 (US$1800.00), and they make equally-stellar 46"+ models.

Just remember, that being a brand-fanboy won't get you the best product. Right now your best bang-for-your-buck LCD is Sharp (and Pioneer is your best Plasma bet), but next year maybe that'll change. Sony is #1 for image quality with their XBR series, but they are really expensive and their lower-end Bravia models are inferior.

^^I just purchased one 3 mos ago from costco. 42'' SHARP AQUOS LCD 1080P, picture is amazing. As far as ghosting, artifacting, banding and all those other issues....if your really that anal, i wouldnt buy an LCD...stick to a DLP, IMHO anything <46'' and you can barely tell anyways

I got it on sale for $1500, normally 1800-2k

imo the Sharp seemed duller than the Samsung displays....

I like Samsung products. I have the 50'' DLP ... very nice for movies and gaming.

Again, it all depends on the specific models you are comparing. You can't generalize based only on the brands. :rolleyes:

eh, their 37" LCD to the Samsung 37" LCD is what I meant. I was looking at those two along with the Panasonic 32" when I was shopping for a TV last winter.

$$$ aint an issue with John so go with the Sony's. Go big or go home!!

If money is no object, then the current Sony XBR series is the pinnacle of HDTV LCDs.

johns a technophile, $$ is definetly not an issue in hes quest to get the latest and greatest

If John likes to pay double for small, incremental gains, who am I to judge John? :p
