Don't drive your G to a ski resort!

Not my coupe...but a friend of mine drove his to our snowboarding trip @ Snowshoe, WV last weekend. It was a good weekend, the roads were clear, but on our last day there it had snow. You can just imagine how a rear wheel drive would handle goin up and down windy roads in the snow. First of all, it took 5 people and 30 minutes just got get him out of the parking lot.

Once he was on the road...the rest of us got in our cars and started leaving....2 min. down the mountain from the resort and there was a G in the ditch. Yeap, it was his. :(

So...one of the other cars in our took him and his girl back to the top of the mountain so they could get a tow truck while we stayed with the car.

...so we made the best of it and started boarding on the highway. Traffic was light. :D

tow came and got him out of the ditch

Once they got him out of the ditch, he was on his own.... this is where it got a little crazy. Some parts of the mountain where there were no guard rails in the turns. It felt like watching somebody drift in slow motion.

Whenever he was goin down the hill, up the hill, or on a flat straightaway...his car was sideways. Gotta give him props, he handled the fishtails pretty well.

one of the rare pix of the rear not sliding out, lol

I got most of the hair-raising fishtails on tape...no one has had time to edit all the clips together yet...but it should turn out good.

After 8 hrs (usually a 4hr trip), everybody made it back home alive.

The moral of this story is: if you're gonna take a G35 coupe to a ski resort...plan on driving sideways for a looong time.

Sorry... but the fault is *not* with the G.
Anyone who goes into ski country w/o full snows is just asking for trouble.

Nice pixs but yah, if you don't have full snows on, there's no way you can make it up that mountain.

way to make the best of the time! :D

Yea, I took my coupe to WISP up in MD last week with similar conditions, luckily I had my Dunlop M3s on and I was able to make it home without a problem. I can't believe he went up there with his OEM setup that's nuts!

VDC does not do sh!t whey you on snow with summer tires.
I tried so trust me........It does not work on snow.

Pratik Jan 29, 2007 10:20 AM

If I'm driving in the snow I turn off my VDC. The car is way too restricted if its on. I guess I'd just want more control over the car at that point getting through certain bumps or going uphill the VDC kicks in and you're not going anywhere.

Nice pics espcially the one where he sliding sideways. Looks like you guys had fun though.
