1/4 mile / Gonna get my but kicked: My G37 vs SRT8
This should be fun... My good friend just picked up a nice an automatic 2010 Challenger SRT8. He has never been drag racing and wanted to try it.
So.... We are going drag racing tomorrow.
The magazines say this car runs low 13s. I ran my car in July (30 deg C day) and did a 14.3 stock. I now have a Stillen exhaust, and the weather should be 10-15 deg C cooler, so I will run faster.
My guess is I might get him in the first run (cut a better light) but his 425 HP will take over and he will win the day.
I will be mounting a few GoPros just for kicks and may put together a short video, if he totally doesn't kick my a$$.

Yes.... The SRT 8 just under 4200 lbs, but with 425 HP I suspect he can leave on the traction control and still beat me... He also has an intake and exhaust.
Anyways, he is a good friend and we will have lots of ***** and giggles

I just got back from the track. Since the weather forecast was dry and warm, EVERYONE showed up and it was very busy, but we still got in 7 runs in 4 hours.
Biggest shock: There was a Ford F250 King Cab 4x4 that consistently ran 12.7 @ 126 MPH. I didn't know you can add NOS to a diesel.
Our best run was the first, which is kind of weird. Normally my best runs are after 2-3 runs and have figured out how hard you can launch the car.
We both ran 13.6 @ 102-103 MPH. He had a really hard time hooking up. He still has the original tires (!) and they are six years old and only 245 wide for 425 HP pushing a 4100 lbs car. However, the SRT8 was really catching up just before the end of the quarter mile.
Since I was able to cut a better tree (my best .505 vs his best .920), I always beat him to the finish line, but his time was quicker than mine 4/7 runs. What fun!
I made one run with VDC on and my 60 foot time was 2.48, running 14.65 @ 102. With the traction control "ON", the SRT 8 also had a 2.48 60 foot time, running 14.40 @ 102
I have 60 GB of 2.7/60 video from the 2 GoPro's in my car. I will catalog it and will put something together soon.

For his first time at the track, he did VERY well.
He was within .3 seconds from Car and Driver's "60 Deg F weather corrected" time, on six year old tires in a 75 degree humid evening.
I could not believe how much shredded rubber was on the car quarter panel and in the wheel well.
Anyone who knows drag racing knows more power = more difficulty in getting a good launch 60 foot time. They also know it takes more skill than you think to get a good reaction time AND a good launch.
On a different note, people seem to LOVE the SRT8 car. People kept coming over and talking to him about it.

Reaction time though doesnt play a part in the actual 1/4 time just the 60'. Add some tires and get the 60' down closer to 2.0 would make a heck of a difference. I wasnt making as much horespower in my 98 z28 but was getting 2.0 60' times with some cheap Pep Boys tires.

True, reaction time does not impact ET, but the win was determined by who crossed the finish line first, according to the time slip.
Also weather has a HUGE impact on engine power and ET. Our best run was with a density altitude of just over 1200 feet.
