Wheel selection for track days
I now own a 2017 Q60 AWD but still miss my 2011 G37XS coupe. I never modified the G but am doing quite a bit to the Q (mods will be listed below). I had my first track day a month ago at Carolina Motorsports Park and am going to VIR in November for a 2 day HPDE. Assuming I still have the bug after that, I plan on getting a set of wheels and tires for track days. I am leaning towards a set of Hankook R-S4's but am open to suggestions. For the wheels, maybe a square set of Enkei Racing PF05 18X9.5 +38? Running a square set of these I could go with 275/40. This setup would match well in terms of fitment compared to my summer wheels and tires. I often post on the Q50/Q60 forums but I know the G37 has a lot longer history at the track. Any feedback about wheel sizes and tire sizes and brands would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Not sure about the best track fitment/offsets for the 17'+ Q60 coupe, maybe someone with experience there can chime in, but I would go as wide as possible for the wheels where it won't cause rubbing issues esp since you're tracking and AWD- you might be able to squeeze a 10.5" square setup on there maybe in the +30 offset range, but 10" wide all around to be safe should work I'm guessing. 18's are definitely the right move for track use though. The Racing series from Enkei you are looking are top-notch but Volk, Gramlights (both owned by Rays), Wedsport, Advan, and Work all make very nice JDM racing wheels even a step further up from their standard lines. All of their wheels are monoblock or flow forged, or a combination. Even the flow-forged Work Emotion ZR10 wheels in 19x10.5" with a +30 offset weigh 2 pounds less than the OEM 19x9 rear wheels on my coupe, so any of those in 18x10 or 18x10.5 will be loads lighter than OEM wheels. Some manufacturers hide wheel weights so it's harder to find info on certain sizes and offsets sadly but I know Enkei proudly lists their wheel weights.
Not sure if this one is an AWD or how that affects fitment on the Q60 coupe, but here's a random setup on 18" Volk TE37s (18x10 +20 square on 275/40) - Fitment Industries Q60 coupe

Thanks for the great info! Where in NC are you located?
Is there an advantage to running 18X10 over 18X9.5 with the same size tire 275/40? I will look into some of the other wheel suggestions you made. I am familiar with some of those brands and know they can get rather pricey. I obviously want strong and light for track use but I would worry about going with something too expensive but I guess that is what they are made for.
You are right about the OEM wheels. I think the OEM 19X9 wheels on my Q60 were 28+ pounds. Replacing them with Nismo V1 wheels made quite the improvement in performance and looks.

Contact shape will vary for the same size tire mounted on different rim widths. the difference won't be significant between a 10.0" vs a 9.5" width.
If you don't plan on moving up on tire width and very confident you are sticking to a 275mm, going with the 9.5" would be better only because of weight (not that its that significant). Otherwise, it would just come down to fitment and how you like the look of it.
check out this post for a coupe with 9.5" +35 and 265 square. looks like a 275 wouldn't be a problem.
you could also skim throught eh thread for more ideas.

I have the new Q60 (Red Sport AWD).
The goal for now is to keep improving my Q and get much better as a driver at HPDE events. Then in a couple of years, I want to purchase the new Z and turn that into a weekend driver/track day car. I am tempted to buy the new Z next year but want to hold out to see what the Nismo trim looks like. I don't envision going wider than 275 for track tires but I never thought I would take my car this far :P
Thanks for the info!

Clean Q60 btw! Looks good with the Nismo wheels, first time I’ve seen a pic with them on a Q60.

Thanks everyone for the feedback so far. Here is a rookie question I asked Z1 and they ignored. I had to install 10mm extended wheel studs when I installed the 10mm/15mm spacers with the Nismo wheels. If I were to purchase wheels with a lower offset and not need the spacers, will I run into issues now that I have the extended wheel studs?
I would prefer to purchase the track wheels with lower offsets and remove the Z1 spacers but I have run the spacers on track days with no issues so far.
Thanks again!

Use open-ended lug nuts, maybe?
Man, your car looks nice. Wheels, rotors, calipers... great look on that Coupe.

I learned something new today, I had no idea what open ended lug nuts were for. Thank you!

Perfect. Those NISMO ones are neat looking, but out-of-stock at Z1.
Look at these... they have a floating seat: https://www.z1motorsports.com/lug-nu...5-p-12616.html
And they come in red, too.

The red is tempting
Just to confirm, all of these open ended lug nuts are for non OEM wheels. For the OEM Nismo wheels, I would stick with the OEM lug nuts.

Yes - OEM wheels (correct me if I'm wrong folks, but I've never seen one different) for Nissan vehicles are shank-style mag nuts - that is, the ones with a washer. The conical style nuts are for other brand OEM and/or aftermarket.
For example - Enkei makes wheels for Mazda and Nissan. Mazda uses acorn nuts, Nissan shank.
BTW - car is gorgeous.

Thanks for all of the help so far everyone! Is anyone familiar with the various Enkei racing wheels? They seem to have a few different price points based on the construction method. For example, the PF05 in 18X9.5 is about $428, the NT03RR is $572, RPF1 is $412. I don't mind spending more money for a better stronger wheel but don't know if there are substantial differences within the Enkei racing line to justify an additional cost of about $600 per set.
