Dyno'd my G, and a few others...

So our local club rented out a dynojet, whose load I have to say was pretty harsh, the numbers came in pretty low but once compared to the others, I was pretty satisfied! The dyno owner said it had to do with the crazy temperature & humidity but does that make this huge of a difference? :dunno:

And on I went:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/zLKDTkih7Js&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/zLKDTkih7Js&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

I was sent the dyno run files but for some reason, I couldn't get the rpm readings on the x-axis, it was only showing speed in mph. So you'll have to multiply that by 46.17 to convert it to engine speed in rpm. (Excuse the ghetto-ness)

The gay thing I noticed about 5AT's, is that even when on manual mode, the ECU won't let your rev past around 7000 on 4th and will automatically shift into 5th :7:

Well enough with the blabbering, let's get to business

http://i451.photobucket.com/albums/q...am/DynoRun.jpg

There are three graphs, each for a different G37. I thought It'd be interesting to combine them (I know, different cars, different readings bla bla). All dyno runs were conducted on the gear whose ratio is 1:1.

Now, the lowermost brown graph is for a G37 with an HKS Intake.

The one right above it in bold red, is for a G37 with Stillen Gen 2 Intakes, UR Crank Pulley, Stillen Headers, GTM Test Pipes & Magnaflow Exhaust

And the one just above it in blue is mine, Stillen Gen 3 Intakes, UR Crank Pulley, FI Test Pipes & FI CF Catback

Still 250whp is heart-braking lol.

Other Cars:
- DE 350Z with intake & exhaust dyno'ed at around 200whp!
- (Previous Gen) Lumina SS Coupe with Full Exhaust & Intake dyno'ed at 312whp
- Lumina CR8 with catback dyno'ed at 336 whp
- Lumina SS with LS7 engine swap, intake & full exhaust dyno'd at 502 whp!

niiice! thats what a dyno is for, comparison tool.. now you see the differences! cars looking good btw!

G37Sam Jun 13, 2009 10:23 PM

Thanks man.. I just found out I was ripped off btw, those DRF files from the dynojet do not contain any torque readings lol And the A/F map is reading 15 don't know how true that is :dunno:

TreSe7en Jun 13, 2009 10:52 PM

damn that is heartbreaking, that reading is worse than that of a mustang dyno lol 250whp for catback, CAI, pulley, and testpipes? =p

cvt Jun 13, 2009 10:53 PM

15 is waaay lean...you need a tune pronto!

Staples Jun 13, 2009 11:17 PM

I think it's a dyno reading error. There's noway your ECU would let you run an air fuel of 15, maybe at idle (most people run 14.2 - 14.7), but not at WOT. Those are also some really low numbers for a dynojet too. I would have thought you would have made atleast 280whp.

I have somewhat similar mods and when I ran the stock map on my cobb a/p I was still running 12.2 - 12.4 A/F at WOT, so why would my ECU compensate, but not your's?

wakeboardr116 Jun 14, 2009 01:16 AM

Wow, surprising numbers. I made 258 on a mustang aka hearbreaker dyno and that was just with tanabes, y pipe, and injen sri. Maybe the temp and humidity did make a big difference??

AF sensor was probably not in if it is reading a flat line.

Absolute numbers mean crap. All that matters is the % gain :)

DrJones Jun 14, 2009 08:37 AM

Wow.... talk about hot... 105 is some nasty heat.

SOLISIMO Jun 14, 2009 09:21 AM

Whats a Lumina? Is it that ugly 4dr like here in the US, that thing put up some numbers thought LOL

oOmikeyboy Jun 14, 2009 11:22 AM

Wow, those numbers make me sad ;[ I think a Lumina is a family sedan?

G37Sam Jun 15, 2009 09:00 AM

For those of you who haven't heard of a lumina before here it is:

Yeah turns out the A/F sensor wasn't hooked up :7: lol

Triple_X Jun 15, 2009 12:25 PM

damn 250 is tough...

when people ask I still tell them it has 330 hp lol

w0ady Jun 16, 2009 06:11 PM

looks good sam.

anyone who complains about hp #s is a noob. all a dyno is good for is comparing before/afters with mods and bragging. track times, driving ability, etc are where its really at.

G37Sam Jun 16, 2009 06:28 PM

haha funny you mention that, my friend with a 6MT HR Z been bragging all day about pushing down 249 whp on that same dyno even though he dyno'd on 4th lol
