Mishimoto Intake Tubes vs Stock

Mishimoto Intake Tubes vs Stock
Not sure if this should be posted here or in the Intake & Exhaust section.
Today I was just having some fun with my friend who also owns a 2013 G37x sedan.
We decided to test and see if there was actually an improvement with the Mishimoto intake tubes vs stock.
We replaced his aFe drop in filters with the stock filters.
We performed 6 runs 0-60mph side by side.
We each did 3 runs & then switched drivers.
I ran 3 in his car & he ran 3 in my car and then switched.
The results were...wait for it.......................................DOMO
My G37xS beat his by a half car length each and every time.
Not a drastic improvement, but an improvement!
This wasn't anything scientific or precise measurements, but just to see if there was a change...plus several variables between his G37x and my G37xS.
His is fully stock with Premium package and mine has additional weight with the included 18" sport wheels and exterior body kit.
All in all, I'm happy regarding my decision on the Mishimoto Intake Tubes!

These test were actual done on the street while racing side by side from standing stop to 60mph.
I'm not condoning street racing in any way and made sure it was safe while these runs were performed.
The only air that was being blown into the front end was from the natural air going into the engine.
Don't think you can get any real than this!
Sorry if my description wasn't clear...should have said "race" instead of runs.

OP, great post. Just and idea - you and your friend should do another couple of runs. This time, you keep stock air filter and Mishimoto hoses, and have your friend run the aFe filters. This should show how much the filters increase your 0-60 vs just the Mishimoto hoses.

Would rather not since I'll need to remove my GTSPEC STB...plus the Mishimoto Intake Tubes are designed so exact that it is a very tight fit.
Took a bit of wiggling just to get them installed in the first place.
I wouldn't think that it would make much of a difference even if we did.
Mine is the one with the weight disadvantage due to the larger wheels and exterior body kit...plus he was running with 3/4 tank of gas & mine was full.
Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

No two cars or drivers are the same either...remember this was all in fun.
Just to mention, we did do 2 extra runs in DS mode and it was a bit closer...still I came out ahead.
There are too many variables to actually determine if the Mishimoto Intake Tubes really "improve" the performance, but they do sound nice!

And so much so that it gets the JAMIN smilie, eh?
Nice. On other forums, that would be a perfect sig-quote.
