New Motordyne Shockwave E370
#451
Hey guys I just installed an autokits V2 diffuser. My motordyne exhaust tip was already almost touching the bumper. I put 3 washers on each bolt above the passenger side exhaust bracket to make it not touch the bumper, and i have already readjusted the exhaust lots of times to try and get better ground clearance, or to stop condensation leaks.
But now after diffuser install the exhaust tip is pressing up against the diffuser, and i absolutely could not fix it. I tried readjusting the exhaust clamps and pipes, i pulled down on the pipe while i tightened it but the pipes would just raise back up when tightened down no matter what. and on top of that, now i think i have stripped 3 of the of the v-clamps from the endless loosening and tightening since i have installed the exhaust. I normally use an impact so maybe thats why it screwed up the clamps but i honestly never really considered doing it by hand with a wrench because it would really take a long time to loosen them up enough to move the pipes. the impact won't even loosen the bolts on the v-clamp all the way now.
I also now have 9 washers on each of the 3 exhaust hanger bolts inbetween the car and the bracket. which is insane. there was only a little thread left. but even that is not enough to give me any clearance from the diffuser with the exhaust tip. i am really frustrated with everything.
Any advice? will it be ok driving around with the exhaust tip pressed against the diffuser? it is fiberglass which i painted flat black. Also buy 3 new v band clamps? then take to an exhaust shop in shame because i cannot figure out how to lower the exhaust tip? lol

You have 3 solution .
1 remove diffuser live without it.
2. Modify the motordyne at a shop to lower the hangers.
3. Buy smaller tips like 3.5 or 4 inchers and pray.
im not seeing another way out youve done the washer mod.
as for driving with tip touching do not. It will melt very quick. I burnt my ipl bumber this way.
even not touching it melted it.
for now remove the tips until you decide whats next.

Just an update I went by an exhaust shop and they readjusted things and got it to fit without doing anything too crazy. It all fits ok. But I do need to keep an eye on things and push the drivers side exhaust tip and pipe over every once in a while because it really wants to move over and will slowly start work it's way over the edge of the hanger a little bit causing it to touch the diffuser again.

This is how you fix it:
Put zip tie before the hanger nipple
