Just cause it's not a full cat-back doesn't mean it won't gain any numbers. It still changes the diameter of the mid-pipe and muffler set-up. I might not gain high numbers, but it get's a lot more in the mid-range and top-end. Don't knock on the newb for expressing his opinion on the exhaust he likes, and especially if you haven't tried out the exhaust itself.

Hey Ironchef, u still running with the Stillen exhaust? Do u miss your Magnaflow system, I'm thinking by ur above quote that u do. The Magnaflow may be ike an old girlfriend that u are no longer with but u still miss, LOL.
I'm still running with the Stillen AND my wife!

For me to see:
And not listen to this:

It had to be Stillen!

But to be honest, I love it. Beautuful setup and great sound. My only gripe was with the U-bolt clamps but that's been upgraded by yours truly to some delicious stainless steel T-bolt clamps!

Hmmmm.....stainless T-bolts

Question What exhaust should I get?????!!!!!!!

I am getting an exhaust for graduation, but I don't know which one to get. Forget the money aspect for now. I'm looking for whichever exhaust keeps the G-sound but accentuates the depth of the growl and the throatiness. I also want minimal drone inside, which exhaust seems to be for me??

If you wanna keep that G sound I recommend either the Tanabe or the HKS. The Tanabe is only an axle-back, but it keeps the sound the same better than all of the other systems. The HKS is a cat-back and you can still hear the G tone but it makes a little bit more "exotic sounding".

Thanks for the quick feedback. I have a few buddies that have the HKS and they absolutely love it. My only concern was that they have it on a supercharged G35 and a TT Z so I wasn't sure how it would sound on my stock 37.

There's a few sound clips around here.

There's a few people that say it sounds close to a porsche when you rev it. Plus, that model for the G35/350Z sounds different for the G37. I had the HKS on my G35 and I noticed the difference immediately when I heard it for the first time on the G37.

You also need to consider the look you want, there's quite a difference between the Tanabe and the HKS look. Also you can add a Y-pipe to remove the restrictive section of the stock exhaust from the cat back if you choose and axle back system for as little as $250. Doesn't change tone but will add a bit of volume.

^Yeah, if you don't like the Ti tips of the HKS, you can always order different tips from them.

Does the G37 HKS sound just as good or better in compariosn the the G35?

Looks like the FI Carbon Fiber is winning.
