Question Previous Service Records?

Hello,

I recently purchased a 2013 G37X Sedan from a dealer. Is there a way to get service records? Also, does Infiniti use some kind of central tracking system so I can see what version of the transmission and ECU software that the car has? I wonder if I have the latest versions.

Thanks!

The first place I would is asking your dealer if it can obtain records of previous services at Infiniti dealers.

I suspect you will have to ask the dealer to hook your car up to their Consult to query the ECU and TCU for firmware versions. If the car is still within warranty, it should cost nothing. If out of warranty, expect $65 to $150 for that service.

Will do, thanks so much!

$65-150 to update the software or to just hook it up to check what version the transmission/ecu is?

Thanks!

Again, ask your dealer. I'm parroting numbers I've seen here over the past few years.

Sign up for mycarfax.com (free), enter your VIN in My Garage and it will pull any records reported to CarFax. If it went to the same dealer frequently you can call and ask them to review any major repairs over the phone. Infiniti customer service should discuss any warrantable repairs over the phone.

Most infiniti dealerships are connected to a central service database. Before I purchased my sedan I asked the dealership to pull all the service records and they were able to provide me a printout of service that was done at multiple dealerships. They also provided a free carfax report. The dealer records were more detailed than the carfax so at least in my case it was worth getting the dealer records to piece together the details of what was actually done. I found the carfax report to be accurate but pretty high level (e.g. carfax may list 'brakes serviced but does not tell you that only the rear brake pads were replaced).
