As others have noted, VVL noise can be affected by oil used. Try using Pennzoil Platinum and see if that makes a difference.
It could also be the tensioner pulley.
My car has been noisy all its life. I think you're making a mountain out of a mole hill.

I hear what you're talking about. That in sync 'whomping' sound right? How's you oil levels at change intervals? Is it low at all 1/2 - 1 qt? Have you changed the spark plugs lately? Pull the driver's side and see if there is oil in any of those three banks. What year is the car? The throttle hang could be a programming issue the latest TSB can cure.

i just did the oil change 400 miles ago, i use Mobil 1 full synthetic( the stuff they use at my dealer) the car has 24k miles, and im confused, spark plugs last for a long time right??? The car is a 2014

Tomorrow I’m making a trip to the dealership because it did it again today comping home from work.(same thing that happens I’m video, sluggish and rev hang)

So I went to the dealer and I told my car acts up after I downshift and do pulls and I told them that it might need a ecu reflash because when you turn the car off , the problem resets back to normal, I told him it’s almost like the car resets it’s itself , they reflashed the ecu and the problem is not there anymore, I was purposely downshifting and pulling the car as hard as I could and the problem never came back!! Power train warranty covered the problem! Thanks for everyone that gave me their input !! Much love guys!

UPDATE!!! I got my hopes up again and it happened again, I need help trying to firgure this out it’s really bothering me that it keeps on happening!

I wonder if the hang is controlled by the ECU to combat emissions. The sudden opening and closing of the throttle is leaning out the mixture (running rich) and the ECU is picking up on that and brings the engine down slowly (more so than desired) to maximize efficiency?
Doesn't explain why some experience it more than others but do you drive in 'D' or 'DS'? My car felt a bit sluggish when I first got it but I reset everything (Disconnected battery for 24+ hrs and pedal, throttle resets) when I cleaned my throttle bodies and drove how I normally do (aggressively) and I haven't really had an issue since.
Are you the original owner? I'm just wondering if the throttle response and driving characteristics are still 'connected' to the original owner. If they had a soft foot and babied the car until they sold it then the car might be trying to mimic the efficiency of the first owner, vs. your heavier throttle inputs, in order to maintain the efficiency it's accustomed to?
If you're the original owner then you can throw my theory out the window but if not, it's worth testing it out. Reset everything then find some place secluded and beat the living **** out of the car.

I am the second owner of the car!! And how would you reset it?,if this is the problem, my car is a 6spd manual by the way just putting it out there!
