Need Help: Read Shocks, Ser
I went to the dealer for oil change and they came up with following items. I have 68K Miles 2011 G37 Sedan. I am not DYI person when it comes to cars.
REPLACE SERPENTINE BELT - $230
REPLACE REAR SHOCKS - $940
PERFORM THREE PART FUEL SYSTEM SERVICE (Carbon Build-up) - $289
Is this typical wear and tear or they are trying to rip me off? Also, to save money on these repairs, Can i go to Nissan dealership or any independent shop (Would appreciate if someone suggests me in Chandler, AZ (85226) area)?
Thanks in advance.

Shocks...they run, for the rear at least, 60-100 per shock. They are simple items. You should not get charged more than $500 parts and labor honestly.
Fuel service is a waste of money.

a couple years ago i paid $30 for the serpentine belt and $40 for labour at my independent shop while getting other stuff done. $70 all-in. that is CAD so yeah, i'd say $230 USD + shop fees is excessive. belt re+re is very straightforward.
i am always skeptical about these fuel system services. we do not have direct injection which can carbon-up (especially on the German makes), so as long as quality fuels are used we should be pretty good for a long time until a service is needed. i toss in a fuel system cleaner at each oil change (Lucas brand) and figure i'm set for as long as i own the car.

Wow, lot of great information, thanks for saving me money here. Now, i understand why dealerships are giving out free food and coffee :-). Is it OK to go to Nissan dealership for this or independent shop is ok? Can anyone from Phoenix, AZ area give suggestion for any shops? Thanks.

I am not mechanically inclined but I replaced my serpentine myself on the G sedan I had before the coupe. It was not hard at all. I certainly wouldn't pay 230 dollars for someone to do it for me.
