Life of oem brake pads

About how long is the life of the oem pads? I'm at 40k and as far as I know they haven't been changed before, and they seem ok....however I think i'll be changing them out soon for some with a little more bite.

Oddly, my rears needed replacement first @ ~45K miles. Just did my fronts late last year @ 70K.

Quite variable, depends upon your driving style. I changed mine at 48k miles because of two track events.

My rears didn't last long. 35K? I'm currently at 57K with original fronts. The dealer told me the rears are thinner than the fronts and will need to be replaced more often.

nissan uses hitachi brake pads when the vehicle came off the assembly line. those things are solid and can go quite a while before needing to be replaced. like others have stated the rears will need to be replaced sooner than the fronts. in addition if you don't brake like a bat out of hell i think you can probably hit 60k on the front pads with no problem.

On my previous 06 G35 6 speed manual the factory OEM pads were replaced and rotors turned by the dealer at 84948 miles
Those pad were still on the vehicle when I traded it in at 171796 miles for my 2012 G37S 6 speed.

When I traded in my 2012 G37S last February it still had the original factory OEM pads at 94444 miles
At one of my recent oil changes at the dealer as part of their vehicle inspection prior to trade in I requested the thickness of my brake pads and they still had 8mm left on them

When driving a manual I downshift a lot using the engine and transmission to do a lot of the vehicle braking which vastly extends the life of brake pads.

Brakes are cheaper than clutches.
