Battery issue, car won't turn on and shuts off
I've been having issues with my car, it is a 2013 with 58k miles on it. Sometimes when I try to turn my car on after work it wont turn on. It won't sense that the key is in the car and the speedometer won't light up or anything. Then I would get out and get back in and it starts like normal. And I look at my miles gauge and it is reset to 0. This has happened to me like 3 times over the past 6 months. Then today when I went to go get my oil changed, the tech who was going to do it put my car in reverse and the car turned off while it was in reverse. He went to go get me and I went inside of it and it turned on right away. Any one know what the issue can be? My battery is like 3 months old. I have an extended factory warranty, will the dealership fix the issue for free?

^ my negative terminal is like this too

In the good old days, you'd hammer a piece of wire or a small nail between the post and clamp to take up any slack.

I have both a 2014 Q60S (new name for G37S) and a 2004 Nissan 350Z. For what ever reason
Nissan and Infiniti use this amazingly stupid, over sized steel negative terminal. The only fix I found that works and keeps working is to first cut off that original piece of junk and replace it with one of those old style lead ones. You just strip back the wire, coat it with dielectric grease, clamp the wire on the new terminal, then attach the whole thing to the battery. problem solved. Those old style lead terminals won't corrode and they will clamp on the battery terminal like an aligator. |
Check grounding straps and that battery has water in cells if low refill with distilled water
