2009 G37X Driver's Side Motor Mount Replace
 

I had a broken motor mount from an accident that was not repaired. Bought the car and got a very good deal. I was quoted $1300.00 to replace the broken motor mount. The quote included transmission fluid replacement, coolant replacement, A/C recovery and labor.

I didn't believe the amount of disassembly required. I found a motor mount online. My local mechanic raised the car and looked at the job. He removed one bolt from the lower control arm and got at the bottom mount bolt. The top bolt access was from the top - needed to pry the A/C aluminum line to one side a little, removed the top bolt with a long extension and a swivel. Raised the car again. Raised the motor with a screw jack and the mount was free. Had to remove the transmission lines - minor fluid loss - and the mount was out. Install new mount, lower motor, install bolts, replace transmission lines, replace control arm bolt. 20 Minutes. The car lift was essential.

How much did he charge you?

my mechanic charged me about $50. I gave him $100. From what I can remember. I was just glad I didn’t have to remove a bunch of oil and air conditioning lines. He did use some long extensions

I need a mechanic friend. All the shops near me talking over $1000 for that one and around $400 for the passenger.

Find a mechanic that doesn’t look at the repair manual procedure but will dig in and find a way to get at the bolts. Also they will need a lift and a screw jack to raise the engine after the motor mount bolts are loose. The engine needs to be “pushed up” about four inches to slide out the old motor mount and slide in the new one. Mechanics can actually be creative and not just rote wrench monkeys with a service manual. Find one with some stories to listen to and enjoy the fun of having skill and personality.

From what/which/where did the trans lines have to be removed and why?

From what I can remember, the transmission lines were the cooling lines. I think there were two lines that disconnected from the cooler. A small amount of oil leaked out but I didn't think is was enough to be concerned about oil levels in the transmission. Memory is a terrible thing to lose. :0 Sorry for the unclear response.
