infiniti versus the people lol
Some of you know the problem regarding the gas gauge not reading right, I have communicated with infiniti regarding this issue and told them that while driving on the highway on a couple time my car died and almost lost my life.
I've realized that the car ran out of gas but the gas gauge showed half a tank and where I had to walk to the gas station which took me an hour in total and the other time my friend was able to come help me.
After most of us invested over $24 000 in infiniti and they knew about the problem since one of the mechanic reiterated that they know about it and his wife is having the same problem on her g37 too.
I have received an email from them regarding this issue on 1/31/2018 and it goes something like this lol
Dear ,
Thank you for allowing us an opportunity to review your concerns regarding your 2009 Infiniti G37.
Infiniti Canada realizes situations may occur with your Infiniti vehicle. After reviewing your case, it has been determined that you are out of warranty.
Infiniti Canada is unable to offer financial assistance with the repair of the fuel gauge due to the vehicle being outside of the basic warranty valid for 4 years or 100 000 kilometers, whichever occurs first.
Infiniti Canada must uphold the guidelines outlined in our warranty. We realize this may not be the answer you were looking for, but we hope that you understand our position. Please be advised that there will be no further review or consideration by Infiniti Canada for this situation.
Thank you again for taking the time to contact us.
Sincerely,

I have a friend who is a lawyer and I explained to him the situation and he also stated that this issue is a manufacture defect and infiniti should be doing something about it. He also believe that there should be a class action law suit against them.
I do not believe this is a warranty issue but mostly a safety issue especially when a lot of the infiniti mechanics do not know what the problem is.

A faulty gas gauge is NOT a safety issue. Is it poor quality? Yes. Is it very inconvenient? Absolutely. It it chickensh!t for them to send you a crappy boilerplate form letter to blow you off? No doubt. But this is not a class actionable issue. Not even close. Your life or safety is in no way endangered by an inaccurate gas gauge dude.

I believe it was GM who had a major recall campaign about 10 or so years ago for a vehicle stalling concern. I liken this condition to that.

Am I missing something? OP's fuel gauge malfunctioned after warranty period and Infiniti refused to service under warranty. I see nothing wrong. Just pay to get it fixed yourself.
About this being a class action. Is this issue widespread? I can't seem to find any info about a class action. I wouldn't trust everything someone says just because they're a lawyer. Does your friend specialize in class actions? If your friend has a valid opinion in class action lawsuits, he should take your case or refer you to the firm handling the class action.
Plus, this is a gauge! And one that malfunctioned after your 100k/4yr warranty!

Reset your trip odometer every fill-up. I always look at the miles when my gauge gets low. I routinely get about 280-295 miles to a tank. If you do this you will know when it's time to hit the gas station.

hey OP, im sure its frustrating etc but not an issue as you describe, especially after so many miles...as mentioned just reset trip at full and determine where you are based on mileage...by now, you have a good idea of miles/KM per full tank and also, doesn't your car give you a warning when you have ~ 35 miles left...?

Does the "gas gauge" match the "DTE" screen? Is that something you have in your 09? I haven't heard about this problem being widespread...Can you fix it yourself? I'm sure it's just a 100$ sensor that you need to take out. Do you have a FSM? All the effort trying to work with infiniti, take some time to try n fix it yourself

I completely disagree. A faulty gas gauge is absolutely a safety concern. If a vehicle stalls while driving, its a major safety concern. You lose nearly all of the safety features the car has baked into it, not to mention basic driving aids such as power steering, ABS, etc..

Just keep better track of your gas. Or pay to fix something that broke after the warranty expired. Those are the choices unfortunately.

Agree with others, this isn't a class action lawsuit worthy safety concern.
I had a '98 Neon R/T that had a broken gas gauge. At some point, you realize 'hey, I've been driving around for days and the gauge hasn't moved off F' fill up, and conclude the gauge isn't working.
I just reset the trip computer each fill up

I too have had gas gauges that didn't work and I have only ever run out of fuel ONCE and that was in a car that had a working gas gauge. I cut it too close and where I lived wasn't in close enough proximity to a gas station so I ran out.
I have had other vehicles just randomly die on me, or I had a few that the transmission failed randomly and you know what, there wasn't a safety issue on any one of them because when the car stalled or stopped moving under its own power I didn't panic, I just coasted to the side of the road or into a parking lot.
