Your thoughts 2012 G37 4D Sedan smashed while parked
So brokenhearted, what to do after repairs?worth keeping? Some kid who speaks no English no insurance drove through 6 cars parked off street. Point of impact per estimate 07 left rear cost over 4k. Insurance guarantees repair for as long it's owned. Bring it to Infiniti dealer before signing off claim?

Looks like it needs a light pull, a little hammer and dolly work on the rear panel, and a driver's side 1/4. I can't really tell what's wrong with the passenger side from the pictures. I can see the eyebrow on the pass rear door. Was that previous damage?

No previous damage any place. impact on left rear appears to have shifted all the back end incl trunk, & rear passenger side. When body work is done, should car go to Infiniti for inspection make sure no knock off replacement parts used, computer tests on electrical system, etc. just to make sure car is safe to drive?

If insurance or another party is going to end up covering the costs, I would always recommend the dealer. They will end up using the OEM replacements parts instead of OEM replicas or an aftermarket option. I am not sure how your particular situation applies, but honestly, it does not look too bad. At least not to the point where I would give up on the car. Thats just my $0.02.

Aftermarket parts depends on the state in which you live. In my state Indiana, the insurance companies are required to use new OE parts for five model years if the owner specifies new OE parts only. Older than 5 years the insurance can use used or aftermarket parts. Check the laws in your state. I seriously doubt that there is a aftermarket G37 1/4 available. Used 1/4 panels are available, but technically hemmed (door skin type seam) 1/4's are not reusable. If they try to use an used 1/4, ask if Infiniti has a procedure on using used 1/4 panels. They won't, and I believe that makes it an improper repair.

That's comforting. Went with insurance recommendation on repair shop, Abra who did good job on son's car when someone rear ended his car. Just love myG37- a keeper but after this? I really appreciate your comments. Do you or anyone in this forum know if, after I have Infiniti (should I?) give it a full inspection, I can go back to the insurance company/Abra to correct any improper repairs identified by Infiniti?

Should there be any improper repair identified by Infiniti, can I go back to the insurance company to have their contracted repair shop fix it? Just wanted to get car back asap. Didn't check WI statutes nor shop around for repair shop. Instructive comment, thank you.

Any decent body shop should provide their warranty in writing. My CTS-V was hit and repaired with used parts including a front strut. State Farm also had a guarantee which was lifetime in case of suspension components. So you can check to see what insurance offers in terms of warranty ( paint, rust, parts...)

Wow, that sucks. Best of luck with repairs. A similar thing happened to our Sedan forum Moderator, who came out to his car one day and saw it destroyed in the parking lot. I can only imagine how crappy you both must have felt. My point is, everything worked out well for Newt, and I hope things work out for you.
