I love the looks of the Cayman. Closest I ever got to driving one was an old Boxster, which felt slow and small. I think it felt that way because it was slow and small.

Don't know a lot about Porsche, but I think the Cayman came into its own in that gen your targeting.

Yes, I have driven one. And it's probably the best handling car out there. It's not really fast of the line 0-60 in the 4.5 - 4.8 region depending whom you ask but handling wise there probably isn't much on the road that can touch it. (it weighs around 2950-3000 pounds and since the car is mid engine it's a dream to drive. The Cayman GT4 (which I can't afford) has been praised by experts as the best sports car taking into consideration price and performance.

And what many people don't know most (not all) Porsches are very reliable. Some have them ranked even with Lexus.

See if you can drive a 2014-2016 S model you will probably want one. The new 718 Caymans are nice too but I don't want a 4-cyl turbo charged engine even though they are fast.

si_driver- have you considered an Elise/Exige or Evora? I figured those might be right up your alley if you are going for light and nimble?

So other than how difficult it is to get in and out of an Elise or Exige, what don't you like about Lotus?

There aren't many around, they are kind of expensive and where do you take them to get them fixed? and I don't like how they look.

How about a Lingenfelter 2006 GTO 6MT with 530 hp and only 1300 miles? This is #2 of 15.

Oh yeah, I feel this car right in my chest. Not so much in red, but still... damn-n-n.

But this AutoExotica place sure does have some unique cars. And it presents possibilities not discuss here yet, which are extreme custom-built cars. They're out there, too.

$47,000 for a 12 year old GTO?!? So much cheap hard plastic and those wheels look like they weigh a ton. Hard pass. Especially when one of my co-workers has a '99 Firebird with more power that he was just selling for $13,900.

Isn't that the point of getting a cool sports car- getting one that not everyone else has. Otherwise just go buy a Corvette. A Boxter S with similar performance to an Elise is more expensive. They all have Toyota motors so you get them fixed anywhere if you don't live in a big city with a Lotus dealer. But if you don't like the looks, then the Lotus cars are out.

I just love those cars for their simplicity and lightness. I just wish the ones they sold here in the U.S. had more power.
