3. Depending on the how HOT the offerings are and how much styling and mechanics change... Q50 or Jaguar XF or Alfa Romeo Giulia
Five years ago, I test drove a 2012 with a friend from work who was considering the new Optima. I found that 2.0T pretty rewarding, although all boost and a suspension that was way too floaty for my tastes. Visually, the car was spot-on for a number of reasons. Very reasonable choice, IMO.

The Giulia... wasn't impressed in person at the Auto Show, but I've never driven one. One thing for sure: their $80k, 500+hp top-of-model car is positively loved by reviewers, and the styling is growing on me.

1. 2008 Mazda3, 2013 Lancer SE for 6 mo. shortly after

2. Shopped muscle cars, took the G home & traded in Lancer

3. C63, RS5, GT350/500 - leaning towards 350/500 to satisfy the muscle craving.

1) Prior to the G I had a 4th gen camaro z28 6mt for many years (15?). A brake line failed. Repairs were too involved as everything on the car was rotting and leaking.

1.5) Got sold on the kia optima sx turbo during the 2011 superbowl commercials. Bought one. What a mistake that was. Was in the shop many times for alignments, tire rotations, balances, and more alignments. The car just wouldn't track straight. On a perfectly straight road, required constant corrections. Got rid of it after 2 months and got the G.

2) G37s sedan 6mt Currently own, and few payments away from being paid off. Does everything relatively well for what it is. Lacking in the suspension dept for cornering at high speeds on real technical roads. This is correctable, but hard to justify since such trips are maybe once or twice a month during the summer. Rest of the time it either sitting in the garage or used for urban driving.

3) I'm still digging the camaro 2ss, likely in a 10AT. Getting lazy in my old age and want to focus more on lines than shifting. We have an accord in the household so will probably end up trading or selling the G to offset the camaro price. Seems like out of the box the car does what the G needs mods for in terms of handling. Even considering getting a 1le package but that's probably overkill for the street. Also this would be a throw back to #1 above.

1. 2007 MazdaSpeed 3 5MT
Purchased used with 16k, and no mods, after it was traded in for a Jetta by an older woman who was somehow duped into purchasing something she had no idea of what it was (story told to my the dealership). Loved that car, but had to get rid of it for practical reasons.

2. 2008 Infiniti G35X - 2011 Infiniti G37xS
Purchased both used a year apart. The G35X was extremely floaty and heavy in feel. After a year, I could no longer take it and traded it in for the G37xS. I LOVED the G37xS!! Especially after nearly all bolt-on's and Ecutek tune. It was a very different car from the G35 stock, and a different animal altogether when modded and tuned. If my G37 were a 6MT Coupe, I would never had gotten rid of it! Such a sexy car!

3. 2015 370Z Nismo Tech 6MT
Well, I already own my next/last/dream car. I've been in love with Z cars for quite some time, but never thought I'd be able to own one. When the 2015 redesign of the Nismo came on the scene, I was swept away but didn't investigate for fear that it was just out of my financially responsible spectrum. Imagine my surprise when I found Laura for 32k with 17k miles and an offered trade-in value of 11k for my G! I couldn't pass it up, no regrets! I daily drive Laura, all seasons, with no issues. The only car that I have any interest in owning is a Porsche GT3/GT4! However, I would love a G37S 6MT IPL Coupe, as any Porsche is simply impractical even if you do have the disposable income!

99 Maxima SE-L (Not the car right before my G, but most relevant, it was a Nissan sedan)
2011 G37xs - At one point this was my obtainable dream car, so I got that going for me.

Next - Not sure, I love the Giulia (Quadrifiglio, of course) just not sold on FCA at this time. More than likely it will be the next step in size so a 5 series/A6/7, or the next M/Q70. I'm a Nissan guy so I will always lean that way. With 1 kid and planning another I will need something bigger eventually. I also wouldn't rule out a nice crossover SUV like the QX70, the new concept looks nice.

I had two cars before my G37S, a 1994 Firebird Firehawk, purchased on 2001 and sold in 2014, and a 2010 Subaru Legacy GT I traded in on my G.

I'll have had my G37 5 years in July, and the "next car" is already very much on my radar.

The most likely option at this point? A new Subaru STI limited with the low profile spoiler in Q4 2018. Probably in a darker color, like Dark Grey Metallic, or maybe white. I like that 2018 brought thicker glass and additional sound deadening, plus Recaros and 6 piston Brembos.

Maybe I'll track down a low mileage Chevy SS, but IDK, I'm concerned the car is going to be "too big" for what I'm after

Last: 2010 Acura TSX
Current: G with some mods
Next: I dunno. Something faster a step up in luxury / features and hopefully more space. S4? Q60? I dunno! I love the new RS3 but its to tiny for me.

Subby is too small, and thin, IMO. Chevy seems too big, and chevy-ish. I know it's a Holden, but it still seems chevy-ish, the way the G8 and the GTO did. It's like a really delicious hot dog, where no matter how good it tastes or how hungry you are, it's still just a hot dog.

this is kinda interesting...

my last car purchased was a 1970 low vin 240z but was purchased in disrepair to be a restomod but couldnt do that due to numbers matching, low vin and overall condition.

then bought my G after selling my 6mt 06' Maxima

now the Z is almost done with the Fresh off the Boat restoration so i would say

1970 Datsun 4mt 240z
2011 Infiniti 6mt G37S
1970 Datsun 4mt 240z

sat in my garage for many years while i hid cash under the mattress

if that doesn't qualify, i really dont know what my next car will be. Manuals are a dying breed especially in the luxury sport category. I've always drove stick. On the island you have to take your driving test with a manual car and do a Hill test, 3 point and parallel park.
1st: parents 82 JDM 4spd Lancer
(then came to the states Tennessee)
2nd: my 1st car 92 sentra E 4spd (everything but luxury lmao)
3rd: got a 98 200sx SE-R 5spd from GA
4th: 2002 Infiniti G20 sport 5spd from AZ
5th: 2006 Nissan Maxima 6spd from CO
6th:1970 Datsun 240z 4spd Local
7th: 2011 Infiniti G37S 6spd from LA
8th: 240z rebirth (soon)
9th: Manuals are dead - May import a JDM 6spd

i really cant picture myself driving an autotragic equipped vehicle for my daily.

The STI is 7" shorter, and fractionally wider than the G. The published interior dimensions are virtually the same. The G has a total interior volume of 96.5 cu/ft vs 93.1. I think I can live with it

I'm hopeful the thicker glass and additional insulation has reduced that tin can feeling. It's been awhile since I drove a WRX/STI, but they've always been fun, and they are a sized right to really throw around. Plus my wife's car will be the primary family ride, so I just need to be able to get to work and drop off and pickup the kids.

Pretty much

Like I mentioned, I've put a lot of thought into my next car, and with the following prerequisites, my options are slim:

  • Manual transmission
  • 4 doors (I'll have 2 in car seats for years)
  • RWD or AWD
  • No German manufacturers (I want another car I can reliably keep for 6-7 years)

3. Nothing!!! you'll have to pry my G from my cold dead hands!...

j/k....I may buy a beater pick up truck and save my G/next car for special occasions so I'd like to think a ATS V or CTS V with the track package...or some old school american muscle...or maybe a BMW 650 Gran Coupe.
