I had a 2001 BMW M5... absolutely loved that car.

It just became too needy maintenance-wise for a DD and a 3rd car just wasn't in the books at the time.

Wow nice car! Aside from B7 RS4, E39 M5 is my favorite sporty 4-door.

Curious if you drive a "S" trim G37 now, and if so, how does it compare to driving the M5?

That is just an awesome car that in my opinion looks best in black. Just a beaut. Bet you don't miss the insurance premiums however...

I do drive an S trim. It’s a 2008 G35S.

On on a Daily basis, the biggest difference is the steering feel and the missing torque. But I have enjoyed using the G as a DD. Plenty comfortable and still fun to drive.

When driven hard, there is a rawness and balance that most ///M cars possess that I haven’t found elsewhere.

But the the biggest difference is probably the sound. The way a car sounds is a huge part of the experience for me and there isn’t much better than the S62 v8. The G is so quiet in stock form. Hoping to cure that soon.

through high school and college i had the ford explorer sport trac and switched to a G25. Ultimately switched to the my current car (G37 sport). In all honesty, that ford was an absolute joy (mostly for the shenanigans it was involved in)

I traded my 1995 Acura Legend GS sedan. It had just turned 200K miles. I was hoping to drive it deep into the 200s, and I think the motor could have done it. But the rest of the systems were breaking down in addition to wear items. So I got something different. After searching for AWD sedans, I really wanted a CTS, I researched reliability and prices and I got my 2013 with 19,250 miles on it and remaining factory warrantee. So I moved up 18 model years in the vehicle age, and back 180,000 miles in wear and tear.

So that leaves my fleet with my 2013 Infiniti, wife's 2016 Imprezza, my 2007 retractable hard top Miata, and my 1985 Subaru BRAT. Received BRAT from elderly relatives estate. 60,00 miles and no rust. I had it resprayed last summer and will be taking it to shows this summer.

Other past vehicles include:
1999 Lexus RX300, 1999 Altima, 1998 Rav4, 1996 Civic coupe, 1992 Camry XLE, 1988 Acura Integra, 1982 Olds Ciera, 1978 VS Rabbit, 1977 Olds Cutlass, 1973 Olds Delta 88 hardtop.

Some of those vehicles were my kids cars, but we paid for them so they're included.

I'd like to figure out how many miles I've driven.

I started in the "slow car" club before my G37.

I had a 1999 Buick LeSabre that I got literally from my grandma's estate.
I had a true cold air intake, ported lower intake, upgraded sway bars/poly bushings and endlinks, upgraded brakes, projector retrofit, and was going to put custom coilovers on it until I wanted something that handled better. And, young me thought it was cool to paint the engine parts lol. Sold it with 161,000 miles on it.

My wife's mom passed away, so I had the chance to get her 1999 G20T. The first time I drove it, the first thought was "this thing is slow as hell." But then I got it onto a twisty road. While those cars aren't the best performer, they have great steering feel, and hold the road pretty well. I sold my LeSabre and kept the G20 for a bit. I retrofitted some H1 projectors (retrofit ALL the things), sway bars, and again, was planning to turbo it, drop it, and get some better wheels, but unfortunately rust and an untimely pot hole destroyed the front core support. The engine dropped down while driving after the pothole, and it was just time to move on. I sold it to a G20 guy that had the parts to fix it and knew how to weld. I didn't have time to fix it nor did I feel it was safe enough for my family after that. It had 197,000 miles on it, and 185,000 of those it spent in the cruel Illinois winters, hence why it rusted to death.

Then, enter the G37. I mainly made the choice because I loved my G20, and wanted something sporty, quick, yet really safe since we're expecting in April. By far the best car decision I've made so far! Even though it's a Journey, compared to what I was driving before, it's quite the step up!

1991: First car was giving to me by my brother and his girlfriend 1986 3.1 V6 Monte Carlo ( Ghetto car) Drivers door only open from the inside, passenger door only open from the outside, and yes I had a 2k stereo in it :O!

1992: Then a bought a 1986 Monte Carlo LS 5.0 305V8 Car was total to Junior Bruins practice, I got T-boned by Elder person van running a red light.

1994: bought another Monte this time a SS 1987 pulled out the 305 and 700R4 tranny, built a small block 350 with 2 stg NOS, and turbo 400 trans , auburn locking gear 3.73's and was a DD and 1/4 bracket car , thing was STUPID fast for then 650HP, best track time was 10.7 license plate was "ULOST" LOL

1998 Sold it and bought my first import 1988 300ZX Burgandy red with matching leather interior. Never went back to an American car


2000: Non Turbo Eclipse 420A( Neon motor) install NOS killed it LOL

2001: Pick up a WRX and a turbo Eclipse( Evo3 turbo 16G full modded)

2003 Sold both the WRX and the turbo Eclipse for a 2003 EVO8 white- modded 373 WHP best track time was 11.7 - totaled it with in a year, got hit on the hyw by a car that never stopped,I hit the median.

2004: Evo8 sun and sound package, BLK modded that as well

2006: Bought a 350Z, drove 8 months and realized I dint like not have a back seat ;/

2006-2007: NO car "bus and train"- We (Wife) had a 2008 G35XS tho.

2008: leased a GTI- was a fun little car had DP and APR STG2-

2010: leased a G37XS-
Same time had a Mitsubishi Galant VR4 -4WS Big 16G fully bolted lots of fun, sold to collector

2011 G37 SC coupe

2014: 2009 G37X sedan fully bolted very fun car, sold

2017: BMW 335XI worst car I ever had, sold it in a year

2018: bought my current 2014 Q50 AWD

It's really amazing how fast cars have become.

I had a cousin with a '91 Mustang GT and back in 1991 that car felt ridiculously fast, and it was indeed one of the fastest cars on the road at the time.

My dad kept a mint low mileage '94 GT up until a couple years ago, and it felt sooooo slow. Funny how 20 years changes your perspective.

I know... Horse power wars is ridiculous now. Most of the luxury cars have pretty good power already for the street. V6 are fast enough and so as 4 cylinder with turbos. I recently drove my nephew's used 97 civic(full stock so 120 ish HP?) and oh man that thing is sooooo slow compared to new cars. Had to kick in VTEC all the way to get on the freeway lol.
