I have 160,000mi on my 08’ 6mt coupe. Purchased new in Feb of 08’. Car has been solid with only minor issues here and there most of which were addressed under warranty years ago. The old old girl is running strong but she’s beginning to need items you’d expect to wear out on higher mileage vehicles like bushings. I am actually going to replace the transmission this
week because the synchros are showing their age and the gear rattle is bananas now especially with the lightweight flywheel I have. There have been several
revisions to the 6mt tranny since my car was built (synchros and lubrication AFAIK) so there were clearly a few issues they addressed. With running through the gears daily in Chicago traffic and a more spirited driving style, I think 160k on an early revision box is pretty good. The new tranny is a deal too. Found it new from a dealer online for $1750 shipped.

So so here’s what’s been fixed or serviced in the 10 years I’ve had the old girl:
  • Clustter surround became unglued on sides (warranty)
  • Rear axels had to be greased due to clicking (warranty)
  • changed steering wheel plastic surround due to flaking of rubbery coating
  • replaced the subframe diff bushing (proactive)
  • Changed plugs twice
  • replaced clutch master cylinder
  • replaced clutch slave cylinder
  • changed clutch 3 times (1st when I installed the aluminum flywheel, 2nd with the slave cylinder, and 3rd to upgrade)
  • replaced battery twice (just put in the 3rd)
  • New tie rod links
  • changed the brakes only once at 30k to upgrade (over 130k on the current set of pads and rotors, cryo rotors are no joke...)
  • several transfluid changes
  • several diff fluid changes
  • annual cleaning of TB
  • new pcv’s every 2 years
  • upgraded hoses to silicone
  • upgtaded intake to cai
  • annual air filter cleaning
  • Refresh padding on cowl a few times for the creaking windshield issue
  • silicone sprayed drivers window guide for window squeak
  • replaced hood and trunk struts
  • upgraded entire exhaust system incl headers
  • fixed broken wire to horn (dried out)
  • fixed broken wire to trunk latch (too many flex cycles)
  • upgraded struts
  • new idler pulley
  • upgraded lightweight pulley set
  • 2 serpentine belts
  • went through 6-7 sets of tires
  • Cleaned and greased starter gear due to sticking
And I think that’s it...

what I am noticing now is that the plastic clips and such are really dry and are starting to snap so I have been replacing them regularly. I am also replacing the black hex head screws before they rust and break off.
the next items to address will be freshening up the bushings all around, a new set of brakes, adding an oil catch can to reduce the Pcv cleaning.

118K, really hoping to make it to some of the numbers here without issues. So far so good.

My 2007 G35S is 113K miles now. I always use Mobile 1 5W30 with 3500 miles interval since I bought it used 8 years ago. I also drove it aggressively and tested it 0-60 as below (all done in the same road, similar weather condition and near empty tank).

5.6s in 2013 70K miles
5.3s in 2015 90K miles
5.05s in 2017 110K miles (after XADO Stage 1 treatment. I think it really worked on my G35S but I think the treatment needs really clean engine since I always change oil every 3500 miles even with fully synthetic Mobile 1!!!)

Even though I own 2017 GSF now, I always have smile on my face when driving my old 2007 G35S without any repairs (only with some modification like PSS10, Eibach sway bars, steel brake lines, Hawk brake pads, light crank pulley etc.)...

I've had 4 infiniti's so far, about to buy my 5th All have been manuals except my old 05 FX . Common problem amongst all seemed to be battery replacements. My current 09 G37s 6mt with 67k miles on it has had the battery replaced 4 times in 3 years.

All the cars seems to have been bullet proof otherwise. Unfortunate that my G now that I was literally about to hand over the keys to (so I can buy my FX50s) just came up with the infamous timing cover leak. Totally bogus bad gasket design, up to 4k to repair and Infiniti is not stepping up to say they had a design flaw. Totally disappointed and is making me think of possibly looking for another make to buy instead of pulling the trigger on this FX50

I was told that my TC is leaking a bit. I haven't been losing any oil, in fact it always looks full when I check it, which is usually every car wash. But mine only has 177k on it. The delay on the throttle is my biggest hangup, the car would be more efficient if it was more dead on. I do need to get my coolant flushed. A shop that I take it to is offering to do so for $89.

That seems odd. My G is 5 years old and still on the factory battery.

that is pretty weird my g is almost 12 years old and its second battery still pulls strong and I'm pretty sure the old battery wasn't really dead either ... actually I've never heard about anyone else on here replacing batteries that frequently before either

In my opinion that's caused by very low friction in the engine.

About 3 years ago, my friend's old little car (2 liter engine) could not started and we parallel my G and my another fridend's over 15 years old Camrys' batteries to help his car start but it just couldn't start even though both G and Camry engines (both are V6) were running. Then we called road assist and they brought even bigger battery and it worked. Then I suddenly realized how good my G and my friend's Camry were.

Bumping this thread; brand new to the forums and on my way to pickup a 2010 from our local Jag dealer with 133k on it (got tired of sharing a car with the wife after our teen got her license and so I wanted to pick up something fun and fast with not too high a price of admission).

While I'm not afraid of tools or having the car in a million pieces on the garage floor, it was a one-owner before and it looks like they took stellar care of it so I'm assuming if anything ate itself in the last 8 years it's already been taken care of.

Looking forward to seeing how much life I can coax out of it! All the posts above have me pretty excited!

Good luck on your purchase.

Talking about battery... One more thing. My wife's car is 2010 M35X (Yes. We're Nissan lover My previous car is 2000 Maxima and 1998 Altima)

Its bettery is still OEM. 5 years ago I replaced my G's bettery and was immediately regretted because the new bettery wasn't felt any better at all. So I decide to keep M35X's bettery a bit longer. Maybe 10 or 12 years...

PS: M35X is only just over 40K miles now and my wife drives it daily for very short city trips (over 90% in 3 - 5 mile distance). We live in North CA. Maybe that's the reason why it lasts so long...

Yes, your climate makes a big difference in battery life. Here in WI where it can get as hot as CA and a lot more humid it also gets extremely cold in the winter (-30 degrees) and that kills most batteries in 6-7 years.

I came from a 02 Nissan maxima i sold it at 206K miles. I never had any problem with as I did all the regular maintenance. Now I have a 12 G37x with 107k miles on it. I bought the car end of 14 with 12k on it and after putting 95k on it (daily driver) I haven't had a single problem with it. With the help of this forum, I've been fortunate to get good deals on OEM parts and or suggestion and comments that have helped me maintain my car.
