Looks an odd color. Must be the lighting and photo. Is that burnt Ti?

I didn't DIY the shifter install, but I did tear down my center console, and was there for the install. I think if I weren't a coward, and had the entire car up on stands, I could have done this. G'luck.

You're going to absolutely love the STS over the OEM shifter.

When you installed your STS did you reuse the shifter cup??

I’ve seen some people have issue with it breaking... but it’s backordered in Canada and I don’t want to wait forever to install.

EDIT: Is it suggested I wait or just go ahead... am I pooched if I break it?

Thoughts?

I bought a replacement just in case prior to the swap. I was able to remove mine with no issues.

My mechanic did the swap, reusing the original cup. No issues.

That said, if I were aware of problems people had cracking the cup, I probably would have bought one just in case, then re-sell it here if it wasn't needed. Just wait it out for the peace of mind. It's not like you have to install it right away.

Lmao, I tried looking for where I read it about the tabs breaking. I’m using my buddy’s hoist Saturday to do brakes... if I have time I will go ahead with the STS and just take it slow.

Seams like it’s not really an issue

Here's a bump on an old thread, with a question:

Anybody else ever install an aftermarket transmission mount, then go back to OEM? I know a few people here did that right away, but I've been holding out for almost 4 years now. And lately these 56 year old bones have been thinking I'd like less rumble in the chassis. The NVH is really killer with the transmission mount.

Anyone?

If I did go back to OEM, should I re-ruse the original, or buy new? The original only has 28,000 miles on it, and has been relegated to the attic somewhere. Although it is rusty, so I should probably sand it down and paint it with POR-15 or something like that.

Just use the original. I had a 370Z long before the G37S sedan and got a transmission mount for it from another company that had way more NVH than the Z1 poly mount. I put the original back in- no issues.
