There's a chip with exposed material, which probably came from a rock, but the cracks along the ridge worry me most. I was planning on getting a brace welded next oil change after the install shop expressed their concerns. Could this be the result of too much play due to the lack of a support brace?
This one looks like faulty product to me, or it was hit with brutal force.

The driver side has a weak look to it too. I can't imagine a rock chip or a light scrape causing that much damage.
There should be warranty for this....

Looks like poor materials.

For context, here's an old pic of my Fast Intentions RHFC when new back in 2014.

Now I'm no design engineer, but this looks pretty damn good to me.

Hey, obsidiansamurai, there's a FI logo on your cats. So you got that going for you.

Ha, it's the little things in life. Too bad the logo will go away when I put the Berks back on.

Not great. It would be worse if I drove it more in the Winter, I'm sure. Flanges are gross and rusty, but the pipes are pristine. Flange bolts are also fine, but I had the foresight years ago to replace them with SS hardware.

This is what stopped me from buying FI cats, went with BERKS again. Dont like cheap mild steel flanges, after few years in Chicago winters, not much will be left of them....

The Berks sounded great but had this tinge of rasp from 3.5-5k, something I was never able to quell. I always wondered if wrapping the Berks in something would help, which I could easily do now that they're sitting in the garage.

Honestly, I'm a bit hesitant to put another set back on. The Berks sounded great but had this tinge of rasp from 3.5-5k, something I was never able to quell. I always wondered if wrapping the Berks in something would help, which I could easily do now that they're sitting in the garage.
Just weld in resonator....

Welded in resonated X pipe and 2 vibrant resonators, still get that tinge. Exhaust is 2.25 so the size difference may be an issue. Not sure what else I can do.

Don't like X pipes, losing power on that one, y pipe is the way to go. Resonators should be as close as possible to cats, not sure where your Vibrants installed and what kind, but when I installed ULTRA QUIET Resonator it killed most of the rasp...

You can weld in resonator right after flange, where your y-pipe starts.

There's a good section of pipe after the cats and before the x pipe. Then my resonators are right before the mufflers. Where would the piece of flex pipe go then?
