You need one of these Mike: https://southbayautoworkz.com/products/g37-carbon-fiber-steering-wheel

or https://zencarbonfiber.com/products/...steering-wheel

Ebay has some lower cost options.

Mine is in perfect shape minus a small brittle area on the bottom that I can temp fix with some leather conditioner, so I am reluctant to pull the trigger and have more near perfect car parts to store in the garage, but if it ever needs to be replaced....

that’s the one I was looking at.

I'm trying to look for an OEM type look wheel cover replacement leather.

Thing I've noticed:
99% of aftermarket make the cover to go over the old cover which in turns makes the wheel bulky
Removing the OEM cover and wrapping the bare wheel with covers usually leave's it a bit loose
99% of them have perforated pleather sides (oem is sectioned but smooth)
Cant seem to comprehend why non perforated designs shoot up $60+ over perforated.

It should get here Saturday, I'll let you know how it looks.

I was leary of covers for the same reason - they go over the old leather, which if ruined makes the new surface lumpy and if missing like you said, loose.

If you get in touch with Redlinegoods, they will help you get sorted out. You can get a cover for the oe leather, you can get it slightly larger with added padding, you can ask them to make it work for oe wheel with no leather, or any combination. The leather is high quality too and you get to chose perforation or not, etc. They also offer wrapping services and modification services. I wrapped mine over the top of the OE stuff and looks and feels amazing. Been about 4 years now, looks and feels good as new. But if youre going beyond just an OE wrap, might just be worth it to get a replacement wheel.

OMG

Was trying to look something up, and thought I found the answer within an old G37 Reddit post

MAN, Reddit is pure chaos.

Couldn’t tell just from this forum how bad the G community has gotten, as our cars are all 10+ years old with plenty of high-mileage ones going for <$5k. Not saying this is unexpected, it was bound to happen as these cars got cheap enough to buy for teenagers (cost of ongoing operation and maintenance is another story…).

Kids driving recklessly, endless muffler deletes, universal aero parts taped onto any and every bumper and fender, dark tinted windshields, dangerously low drops. Some kid pumped his rear tires to 80 psi to help him drift.

This website is truly a sanctuary

Reddit is surely a hive of scum and villany.

Actually, it's gotten substantially harder to find information about modifying *anything* any more in any reliable sense. I think the major search engines are filtering or downvoting the 'hacker' content on the web, TBH. I know that stuff is out there...

Not talking like illegal pen testing hacking btw. Just general using something in a way that it wasn't designed, hacking. F'rexample, it should be relatively easy to find out details of the IPDM inner workings because of the Z community - but it isn't.

Fish, and plankton. And sea greens, and protein from the sea. It's all here, ready. Fresh as harvest day.

I've done some light work but nothing in the realm of CAN. For what I've seen and read only 2-3 more people are actually trying to figure CAN Sniffers/emulators to control the IPDM.
One of the issues is Wake up signal, it gets this signal from BCM however for the controlling of lighting/horn/signals it all CAN messages.
I am working on trying to complete a "simplified" version that just ended up in 1/3 of a g37 inside of my garage.

ECM/VVEL/IPDM/BCM/ FUSEBOXES(ALL)/ STEERING LOCK/ PUSHSTART/CLUSTER

All sharing inches of wiring it ends up being quite a bit of stuff. By accessing the IPDM you save yourself quite a bit of work if you can send messages efficiently.
I've read that you'll need to learn/read and detect which code does what and certain times certain emulators might make mistakes and not control something if multiple messages are sent back to back.
Possibly why some messages pass through the BCM

Nobody gets my Logan's Run reference? Awww :icon27:

rotarymike 03-22-2024 11:54 AM

It's been 30+ years since I've seen Logan's run and, being in my 20s, was likely in an altered state while watching it LOL. Sorry didn't get it :)

I'd like to start with rewiring/reprogramming the thing to let the fogs come on with highbeams too.

Way over my head, think my dad graduated HS the year it came out. But I did watch the YouTube clip and am now compelled to find it streaming somewhere

Sorry, I was traveling this week and missed the chance to follow up with an associated Farrah Fawcett tribute.

Loved that movie. Is the book any good?

FARAH!!! :icon17:

The movie is awful, IMO. The writing and acting was just the worse. But I love it anyway, don't know why.

Favorite Michael York movie was the 3 Musketeers. I remember seeing it with my parents when it came out.

Back on topic. There was a guy on Reddit that replaced the chrome trim finishers around the fog lights (https://www.z1motorsports.com/front-...QaAlrGEALw_wcB) and it got me thinking.

I ended up taking some Flitz polish and cleaned mine up and they turned out much better than I’d expected. Good rainy day task.
