When do you guys usually switch to winter wheels / tires? this is my first year with 2 sets.... seems like it's already going to be in the 30s this week. Just last week it was 80, wtf.

I bought a used 2012 G37x Sedan AWD (Automatic) a month ago and now I am starting to replace little things here and there. Can anyone recommend me a cheap, but decent replacement gear stick I can buy? RockAuto is usually my go-to website for all parts but they don't sell any. Please advise. Also please advise if the replacement is an easy job I can do on my own or if I need to pay my mechanic. Thanks guys.

I'll generally wait until the first snow fall is promised or temps stay in the low 30's. Yes, just yesterday (sunday) I was in shorts. Today, pants, jacket, a hat. Weather is wack!

We still get days in the 50-60's in late oct and even part of nov.

Your just talking about the shift ****? you can get it from any of the infiniti parts websites, or ebay, or also find an M45 shift ****.

I typically do this over the Thanksgiving weekend, give or take a week or two depending on long range forecasts. It's less urgent if you have a garage and other cars.

You certainly don't want to drive on performance summer tires in the snow, that's suicide. But you also want to avoid their use on dry pavement in feezing temps. That's dangerous also, and bad for the tires.

I'm going to go mirror black on mine as soon as I find some vinyl in person that I like - don't want to order a 'maybe'. Grabbed extra trim out of a salvage yard car so I don't mess up my own. Give me a month or so and I should be maybe doing this over our Christmas holiday, and will take pics and do a writeup.
Yes, i thought about all the wear and tear it’ll go through that’s why i asked here first. Also i know exactly what you mean i’m very picky with how i want my car to look and i wouldn’t want any cheap vinyl from ebay because it never looks as good. I might just end up wrapping my trim too.

Moderator's prerogative. However... you're not wrong.

In other news, my car is effectively dead in my garage again, as I wait on a new Clutch Master Cylinder. I'm going to try and drive it to the shop for the install in the next week or two, but I'm freaking terrified the clutch will go to the floor and not come back up again.

(sigh)

And we got out Subaru back from the body shop. I didn't think this was possible but the rear end actually looks worse than when I gave it to them. The masking line between the painted surface and the flat black plastic is literally an 1/8" too low and looks ridiculous, the step plate is falling off, the dual exhaust blank plate is poorly fitted, and one corner is flapping loose. I was stunned at how sloppy the work was.

So now it goes back on Monday. Oh. My. God.

This was a good idea OP we have been drifting an awful lot thread wise I suppose huh?

i would recommend having a bolt extractor socket kit handy. I did mine last weekend, and the 14mm was a life saver.

Places that sell under trays also sell replacement bolt kits. You might want to look there, too.

Those bolts with a tapered tip and a floating washer fixed at the head... IDK where you find those, particularly if you're looking for SS or Ti. You might have to come up with a creative alternative. Ti is an excellent idea, and that doesn't mean you have to get polished Ti. Check out ebay for stuff like that.

Also, there are three plastic push-clips in the middle. You can buy a whole bag of those for almost nothing online. They're exactly the same clips you'll find in your engine bay.
